    Description

Hola! I’m Dayana 😊 I'm a workawayer too, and I truly believe in what this community is all about, so I'm thrilled to become a host!

I’m a proud local who loves Ensenada! I’ve been showing travelers around for years now because I enjoy sharing everything that makes my hometown special. Ensenada is a beautiful coastal town with the perfect balance, there’s plenty to do for tourists, but it still keeps that local charm with amazing hidden gems to explore. You can walk around downtown, chill at the beach, check out cool cafés, or try the best local food!

I also love hiking and staying active, so you’re welcome to join me whenever I go on an adventure! I want you to have an amazing time here, just like I did when I traveled as a volunteer. This is my way of paying it forward for all the incredible experiences I’ve had (and still have) while traveling 💖

Oh, and you’ll also meet Joey, my tiny Chihuahua! He’s 6 years old, super friendly, and a true little explorer. I take him to the beach every weekend, so if you love dogs, you’ll have a new little buddy here 🐕

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

You will be part of our family :) we will teach you everything you would like to know about Mexican culture and we would love to hear more about your culture and stories of your trips. My dad understands but do not speak english, so this is a perfect opportunity to learn and practice your spanish!

I'll do my best to make sure you feel at home and get a real taste of our culture. My goal is for you to have an authentic experience, not just as a visitor but as part of our daily life.

Oh, and one more thing! My parents have a jacuzzi on their terrace, perfect for a nice chill session after work, so don’t forget your swimsuit! ✨

  • Help

    Help

Your help will be divided between two places, depending on the tasks needed: my home and my parents' urban garden, which is just 5 minutes away.

    1. Details about the help at my parent's project 🌱:

My dad is a true handyman who loves carpentry and building things, and my mom is passionate about gardening. They are both retired and have started an urban garden at their house where they do composting (all the neighbors bring their organic waste) and have developed their own water recycling system.

    The tasks here usually include:
    ✔️ Gardening (planting, weeding, watering)
✔️ Renovating and cleaning the space
✔️ Helping with composting and sustainability projects
✔️ Assisting with small construction or creative projects

We’d love to host someone with experience in gardening, permaculture, or eco-friendly design, but if you’re simply passionate about nature, eager to learn, proactive, and full of ideas, you’re more than welcome to join! 😊

    2. Details about the help at my house 🏠:

I’m 31 years old and spent most of my 20s traveling, but now I’m back in my hometown, enjoying time with family. Since I work remotely, I don’t socialize as much as I used to, and I love learning from people of different backgrounds and life experiences, which is one of the reasons I joined Workaway as a host!

My house is still undergoing some renovations, so there might be small tasks related to that, but what I’d love the most is for you to share something you’re passionate about! If you can teach me a new skill, language, art, cooking, yoga, or anything fitness-related, I’d love to learn from you. Let me know what excites you in your application!

We ask for 25 hours of help per week, and we’re flexible with the schedule because we want you to enjoy your time here and explore this amazing city!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Right now, we can host one volunteer at a time. You’ll have a private room, shared bathroom.

In exchange for your help, we provide accommodation and meals. If I’m not available to cook, you’re more than welcome to use the kitchen and any available ingredients to prepare your own meals 😊 Just a quick note: this is a smoke and drug-free home, and I personally avoid red meat, so I kindly ask that it’s not cooked here (but don’t worry, there are delicious taco spots nearby! 🌮)

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We've hosted volunteers who have stayed for as little as a week and others for up to two months. Ideally, we prefer stays of two weeks to one month, as this allows enough time to settle in, contribute meaningfully, and truly experience life here. However, we're open to extending the stay if we both feel comfortable and it's a good fit for everyone! 😊

Please include the word JOEY in your application so I know you’ve read through everything. Gracias!
