Description
About COVID 19: Our farm is open to workawayers stuck in the country.
We are living on a small organic farm in the mountains of southern carinthia. We are Imke (57) and Franz (60), Milan (19), Elsa (25) and Valerie (27). Currently, we keep 8 cows, 1 horse, a few chickens, some cats and bees. Besides that, we have a dog called finja.
Since generations, our farm has been in the hands of our ancestors. We used to live here as a big family, but in the last few years a lot of change happened: The grandparents who lived in our house passed away and our children moved to Vienna. Elsa did workaway a few years ago and shared her experience with us. Because of that, we came to the conclusion that workaway might help us starting new projects with our farm.
We are really looking forward to meet curious and open minded people to get in cultural exchange with and to learn from each other.

Our farm is located very close to the slovenian border, our bilingual region is part of the geopark "karawanken" and there are a lot of beautiful mountains nearby, which is perfect for hiking and mountainbiking in summer and skiing in winter. Franz is a hiking guide and has lot of knowledge to share, while Imke works on different integrative theatre and dance projects.

Accommodation
The ground floor of our house with a double room, kitchen and bathroom. Towels and beddings are provided. We will buy the food, you'll have to cook for yourself.
What else ...
The farm is located at 900 m above sea level, 7 km from the next village and 20 km from the next train station, but we drive several times a day and we can take you with us. You can also take our bikes, but we would only recommend that for going downhill. Carinthia is full of beautiful lakes like the Wörthersee (Klagenfurt) or the Turnersee. Also, the mountains are great for skiing and snowboarding.
Citys nearby which are great to explore are Klagenfurt (AT), Graz (AT) or Maribor (SLO). For weekend trips, there are a few very nice spots like Vienna (AT), Salzburg (AT), Ljubljana (SLO), Venice (IT), Tarvis (IT) or Triest (IT).
These are easy to reach within about three hours and worth a visit.
In Vienna you could stay for free because some good friends and relatives live close to the city centre and could offer a free couch.
