My name is will, I’m a track coach at the local school and a construction business owner. Being a business owner with many titles im pretty busy but a very motivated and motivating person. I’m a naturalist and certified mushroom expert! I recently purchased a 16acre parcel that I’d like to build an off the grid homestead on! It’s a ton of work and I need a hand. The main project is building a log cabin using logs off the land. We are located in central Michigan and our summers are wonderful,70-80s and sun is our typical forecast. We are within an hr drive of 2 national forests and the 16acre parcel is backed by 6000 acre of state forest! Summer usually consists of lots of hiking and jeeping on forest roads in the free time!
I love to teach about nature and part of the reason for this off the grid homestead is to show that creating a life and home from the land is soo possible! We are taking an ordinary piece of land and creating an entire lifestyle from it. So many people get caught in this 9-5 40yr lifestyle when they purchase a home and I don’t want that for anyone! Everything you need is in nature if you educate yourself and put a little work into it. I wish to pass this mindset on to someone, as well as what I’ve learned in the process. We can live sustainable it just takes us all!
I need help with moving and preparing 30-30’ quaking aspen logs. So debarking and helping mill each log. Then stacking to dry. Other task we will do are cleaning up tree tops and cutting them into fire wood. Starting a garden, tending to the bee hive, building a driveway, feeding chickens.
You will stay on the parcel, I can provide a camper to sleep in and there is a shower at my home you can use. Located 1/4mi away. I can provide meals and you will have access to the cupboards 24hrs. I can provide a vehicle for you to use while you’re here.
Michigan is such a beautiful state, and Michigan rd trips are the best way to see it! Central Michigan is so diverse if you drive 50mi in any direction the landscape is completely different! North you have hills and sinkhole lakes, west you have beautiful salmon rivers with vista views, east we have Huron and the pine forests, and south is farm country, with the best deer hunting there is. The UP of Michigan is a 3hr drive and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is about 4.5hrs which really isn’t bad even if you just go for the day, the UP is 100% the most beautiful part of our state with its rocky protrusions out into Lake Superior and countless cliff diving locations. The waterfalls that seem like they’re around every corner and it’s easy to go an entire day in the UP along these beautiful waterways and not see a single person! I love to take rd trips every weekend to somewhere new and I never run out of places to go, I never have the desire to leave Michigan when I want to vacation there is just way to much to see and do! I expect that if you plan on coming here you have a desire to be outdoors in nature observing it and caring for it!
