Description
Hello, I'm Elisabetta.
I'm a sociologist and former lawyer from Sicily with a long-standing interest in social innovation, community projects and cultural exchange. Over the years I have collaborated with different institutions, non profit associations and social initiatives focused on inclusion, territorial development and social policies.
We have a small evolving place in Sicily where people can meet, share ideas, reconnect with nature and experience a slower and more conscious way of living.
We take care of a small orchard with different fruit trees and Mediterranean plants and we are gradually planting new trees and experimenting with small reforestation practices, with the aim of contributing to the regeneration of the local landscape.
It is also a place for social and cultural exchange. From time to time we host small and informal cultural or creative activities that bring together people interested in art, writing, music, and social reflection.
Life here is simple and based on sharing daily experiences, nature and community.
Workawayers join me in my daily life, helping with my two dogs and with small tasks around the home and gardening.
Their help is not related to any business activity,
We continue to grow through the contributions, ideas and experiences of the people who pass through it.
I like the idea of creating a relaxed and friendly environment where everyone contributes a little and learns something new.
If you feel this place could resonate with you, send me a message and tell me a bit about yourself, your travel plans, and why you would like to join us

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are located in a quiet coastal area about 15 minutes from the historic city of Syracuse in southeastern Sicily.
The house is close to the sea and surrounded by Mediterranean landscapes.
Nearby, travellers can explore the beautiful island of Ortigia, the ancient heart of Syracuse, known for its baroque architecture, lively streets and seaside views.
The famous Neapolis Archaeological Park, with the impressive Greek Theatre of Syracuse, is also close by.
Just a few minutes away is the Plemmirio Marine Protected Area, a beautiful natural reserve with clear waters, rocky cliffs, and walking paths along the coast.
Workawayers staying here can experience everyday life in the Sicilian countryside and discover a slower rhythm connected to nature and local culture. Through daily activities, shared meals and conversations, volunteers can learn about Sicilian traditions, local food, and the relationship between people and the land.
Living here offers the opportunity to experience Sicily beyond tourism and to understand the social and cultural context of the area. Over the years I have collaborated with different associations and community initiatives. This sometimes allows volunteers to come into contact with local cultural and social realities, meeting people involved in community projects, cultural activities and local initiatives.
For many Workawayers, this becomes an opportunity to better understand the place they are visiting and to experience a more authentic connection with Sicily.
Help
Volunteers usually help around 3-4 hours per day, 4-5 days a week.
Tasks vary depending on the season and current needs.
Activities may include helping in the small orchard (planting, watering and caring for fruit trees), supporting tree planting and small reforestation efforts, gardening, light maintenance of outdoor spaces.
Sometimes volunteers may also help with small DIY projects, such as creating simple structures or small wooden or stone features for the garden and outdoor spaces.
From time to time volunteers may also help with dog sitting.
You don’t need special skills — a good attitude and willingness to help are the most important things!
In any case, the help provided by Workawayers is not related to any business or profit-making activity.
