Description
Hiya, I’m Leah! I'm an avid traveller who spends half the year abroad. When I am not travelling I am working from home and exploring the mountains. If you're into hiking, trail running, mountain biking, camping, then this is a great place for you to visit and we have tonnes of recommendations to share.
My family’s home sits on 100 acres of native alpine bush on the Alpine Way at Crackenback, in the Snowy Mountains of NSW, between Jindabyne and Thredbo and right on the edge of Kosciuszko National Park. We’ve called it home since the early 2000s and it's a little slice of paradise.
We have plenty of space on our property but not enough hands. With my parents getting older and finding it harder to keep the surrounding bush tidy and cared for, we’re looking for some extra help around our private home and our veggie garden over the quieter summer months. All help is on our family property, and we’ll be on site helping you and showing you our beautiful backyard.
You’ll have your own self-contained apartment attached to the house, with all the creature comforts. IWe all live a clean and healthy lifestyle up here, so it's a great place to rest and recharge before your next adventure. We love good food, family dinners and always have plenty to share. Hours and days off are flexible but you’ll need a car as the region is fairly remote.
You’ll also get to hang out with our two very aussie dogs, a kelpie and our australian terrier. On the property we also have wallabies, wombats, possums and heaps of birds. So it's a great place to get your fill of native wildlife!
We are 5mins from Kosciuszko National Park, which is Australia's largest alpine park with incredible hiking, rivers and lakes for swimming, mountain biking and trail running. The air is clean, the rivers are crystal clear and the stars are insane. Jindabyne and Thredbo are close by for cafes, supplies and social life when you want it. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We know the area well and are always happy to share recommendations, from easy day walks to bigger adventures in Kosciuszko National Park. We can certainly show you our favourite swimming spots along the river just 5mins from our place too.
On the property itself, you’ll find real serenity, peace and quiet. It’s a chance to slow down and spend time in nature, with wildlife wandering past and amazing views across the valley.
We love meeting people from different places and backgrounds, and we’re always happy to swap stories, skills and travel tips along the way. -

Help
The help is all about maintaining our 100 acre bush block. Tasks will depend on your skills, interests and how long you’re staying, and may include:
Landscaping and gardening
Bush maintenance - raking and clearing
Small projects based on your skills and interests
As a creative I know I get the most satisfaction from getting stuck into a project and getting to see real progress. Depending on your stay and your interests we can come up with the projects together. We are very easy-going people and don't like micro-managers. All the work will be outside in the mountains, with views in every direction you'll get plenty of time in nature.
I’ll provide all the tools and equipment you need and will be on site if you need a hand or have questions. If we have more family on site there will be opportunities for learning new skills as well. It's all very casual and self-directed. -

Accommodation
You’ll have your own self-contained luxury apartment attached to the side of our house. It sits empty during the quieter months, so you’ll have a comfortable, private space to come home to after work or a day exploring in the mountains.
You may also have access to our off-grid tiny house just behind the main house, so you’ll get to enjoy that space as well (views, BBQ, fire pit.
Shared dinners are on offer but it will always depend day to day. You'll find us very hospitable and we like to go with the flow on the day - you're also welcome to whatever is growing in our garden. On occasion you'll also have access to our hot tub and sauna! It's a proper mountain retreat up here. -
What else ...
Our area is best for fit, healthy, outdoorsy and adventurous people who share our values and will respect our native bushlands.
The property is remote, so a car is essential for getting to town, trailheads and anywhere else you want to explore. On your days off, you’ll be well placed for hiking, swimming, mountain biking and trail running in Kosciuszko National Park. We also go down to the south coast of Australia (2hrs away) quite frequently, plus there are so many amazing campgrounds and areas within an hour or two from our place. We're more than happy to help you plan your adventures!

I’m a digital nomad myself, and this is my base when I’m not travelling abroad. We have Starlink internet and are mostly off-grid, with plenty of solar powering the office.

Space for parking camper vans
There’s space on the property to park your motorhome, and you’re welcome to use our facilities. We’re also very close to Thredbo Diggings Campground, a beautiful spot to camp right on the river.
