- In spring :
We are looking for 4 volunteers to join our cultural association between the 5th and the 19th of May for some small theatre festivals organised in villages around Frankfurt am Main.
They will live with us in our community for 2 weeks. They should be self-reliant to be able to help alone or in a small team; and be flexible for change (duties are not always planned in advance, but mostly discussed in the morning meetings).
If the volunteer has special skills in building and reparations, or bike fixing, photography, video montage, costume-making... we could imagine to welcome the volunteer for a longer period!
- In summer:
We are looking for a team of 60 international volunteers for summer. Approximate time: 17th of July until 14th of August.
Tasks will include build up and build down of the festival, and a specific task during the 17 days of festival. (angel of the house, breakfast team, bar/coffee, cooking and cleaning duties...).
Artistically: volunteers can take part into artistic workshops for free, attend shows, symposiums and concerts.
Culturally: volunteers share the same house with a hundred people of very different background and nationality.

WHO ARE WE?
We are an association, a cultural space organising many events and festivals in public spaces, aiming at spreading culture freely and for all.
We are also a theatre group of 20 people producing physical theatre and touring internationally. We live in the same community and house, share our life, our work and our "crazy" dreams for many years.
THE SUMMER FESTIVAL
In 2025 for the 25th time, the festival will take place in the city for 17 days, that vibrant yet chilled international theatre -festival on the riverside , with an elaborate and eclectic program of cultural and artistic events. Frankfurt will be magically transformed – the place in Frankfurt will be turned into a poetic parallel universe, a place for discovering, enjoying, exchange and inspiration.
The program will be full and packed with wonderful stuff: national and international acts and performances of theatre in open spaces, live music, singer-/songwriter, Poetry Slam, Readers Corner, Open Air Cinema, Free-Cabaret-Space, Workshops, Trainings, the Market, tasty foods and delicious drinks. We are looking for 50 volunteers to join our place between the : 16.07.25 to 14.08.25
THE WOMXN FESTIVAL
Full name is the IFTF (Internationales Frauen* Theater Festival of Frankfurt), is a festival of one week usually at the end of September. It has a feministic and intersectional approach and aim at creating visibility and equality in the world of theatre. This festival takes place in our community itself. There is a dense workshop and shows/concerts program, and about 15 female* volunteers are welcome to join us between the : 14.09.25 to 28.09.25
THE WINTERWERFT FESTIVAL
This is a laboratory and festival happening in January/February. This is 3 weeks of theatre laboratory and the weekends are opened to the public. Only a few volunteers can come for this event. The dates for 2025 are not yet defined.

About our festivals: From an almost empty space to a vibrant festival with art acts, theatre tent, beduine-tent, life music and various stages – someone`s got to do that…During the festival there is help appreciated in front of the stage as well as behind: catering, attending artists and audience, maintaining the festival area and the community, decorating... and afterwards, everything should be built down again!
Each year we will offer more than 60 places for international volunteers in summer and 25 places in September for female* volunteers. This is why we decided to give the chance to people who are interested not only in a cultural and social exchange, but also in theatre, in our projects, and last but not least, who are interested in community living!
Furthermore, we are looking for competent and enthusiastic people could like to take over some duties, e.g you could get responsibility of a main area to lead groups of volunteers as well as you could share your ideas and enthusiasm!
The people organising the festival are living in a community, living an alternative lifestyle. You will be living and working together with the performers/actors collective. During our summer festival we expect around 100 Volunteers, helpers and artists from around the world living in our house. At the festival place there will additionaly be 300 volunteers from Frankfurt helping us out.

Accommodation
We are a community living together. It’s important to be considerate to each others, clean up after ourself and leave community areas nice and tidy. We ask for 5 hours of help per day, five days a week, two days off in exchange for food and board. Every day breakfast is taken in our house kitchen and for lunch and dinner we have a big VIP tent on our festival area or at our house.
You will be living together with the ensemble at the collective space in Frankfurt, about 20 min from Frankfurt Main station by public transport. We all live in wagons, old busses and caravans. Volunteers will be in shared rooms (3 to 7 people per room). Living and working in community are essential components in this working camp and the festival is the main angle: You will be welcome to help, dance, cook, celebrate, wonder, grow and exchange.
Also possible are excursions to the nearby cities of Mainz, Cologne or Heidelberg.
What else ...
The whole festivals are held and organised by our independent theatre and performance group, living and working come along hand in hand. The ensemble consists of members from all over the world, who use methods of physical theatre, dance, acrobatics, stilts, improvisation, live music, fire performance... and make theatre happen in open spaces – worldwide. Theatre is brought back where it comes from and belongs to - into the heart of our society, into public spaces, for everyone to see and get involved.
