    Description

The two owners, Farid and Buelo are both fun loving, well-seasoned adventures who’ve fallen in love with this part of the world. Open-minded and ready to play just as hard as they work, this experience will be anything but the corporate job you might be considering instead of workaway. We encourage you to choose this path.

The town of San Rafael is a quaint, typical rural Colombian pueblo with all you need from grocery stores to restaurants, bars and more. Very few people speak English here so its an ideal place to improve your Spanish through the immersion.

We are seeking two volunteers with experience in these areas to layout and implement fruit and nut tree plantings, designing garden beds in a strategic way in harmony with the topography and orientation of the land, and more. We have a stream on the property so irrigation plans will be considered as well. The volunteer will work with the owners on the design. They will also work alongside, and oversee, local laborers to execute these goals. Basic Spanish is desired but not mandatory, but a desire to learn Spanish is needed in order to have basic communication with the work team.

    Accommodation

We have 3 dwellings on three separate tracks of land plus many acres of land to camp on, as you choose. In the main hostal that's being developed there are bunkbeds in a dorm. When available, the Jungle Cabin or the Casa Cascada can also be used for additional privacy and camping on the land is fine nearly anytime. We have all the camping gear you would need.
    Food included.

    What else ...

The fun stuff: San Rafael in Antioquia Colombia is one of the greenest places imaginable. There are countless charcos - swimming holes with giant boulders, crystal clear pools, and bubbling whitewater - in which to swim, relax and enjoy. The community that the land is in has less than 120 members and has no cars, trucks or buses. It can only be accessed on foot or by bicycle, motorbike, horse or mototaxi (tuk tuk). The peace and tranquility is unparalleled. Because of this unique automobile free feature and that the various landowners allow you to walk freely (with respect), you can roam up and down the grassy mountainsides with the cows and horses or enter the jungle. With so many streams and miles to walk or ride, a nature lover will never get bored here. The birds are exotic, colorful and plentiful and often small monkeys can be seen in the treetops.

In their free time, the Volunteers will have access (when not in use by clients or the owners) to horses, motorcycles, mountain bikes, a quad (4 wheeler ATV), innertubes for float trips, and multiple waterfalls.

Transportation is easy. From Medellin we can pick you up at the airport in our van or on a moto depending on how much stuff you have. Motos are much faster and easier to get around. Or you can make your way out on your own by bus.

Once we connect, we'll sort that detail out, in case you want to explore Medellin for a while before you come out.

We saw a bumper sticker we liked that sums it all up: "Wag more, Bark less". If your dog honors those simple rules and doesn't fight or bite, we will love em! All our dogs are good to go with others. We also have horses and a cow but no cats. We would consider cats, but they have to stay outside because my partner, Buelo, is allergic.
