Description
Kia ora - My name is Jessie and my husband is Jared ~ we have 3 boys. Ages 9, 6 and 2 years old. I work from home teaching 3 other children 3days per week while my older 2 children attend school. My husband works Fulltime doing long hours on the farm. If you choose us to stay with you will have your own self contained cottage to yourself. It has a bathroom, laundry, kitchen, dining, bedroom and lounge. With a deck on the front to enjoy the New Zealand sunshine. If you can help us out for a few hours each week day in exchange for accomodation and food that would be ideal. We live on a 3rd generation family farm in the rural Hawkes Bay of New Zealand. With plenty of fun outdoor things to do around the region you wont be bored - caves are just down the road, Mahia beach, Gisborne is a day trip and Napier city is more of an overnight trip.
We currently have 6 working dogs, 11 chickens, 3 pigs, 4 cats, 2 pet dog and a few thousand sheep/cattle.
We are based in a small rural town called Nuhaka ~ 30 minutes from the beautiful Mahia beach, 45 minutes from Wairoa, 1 hour from Gisborne and 2 hours from Napier. Having your own car/vehicle is a must as we do live rurally on a farm with no public transport around. We dont mind picking up and dropping off from the local airport but please understand we can not drive you around in your free time, so your own vehicle is ideal.
Things we are looking for in exchange for accomodation and food:
- Gardening
- Cleaning
- Firewood chopping/stacking
- Possibly the odd night of babysitting
Ideally you would spend a few weeks in the garden as it is huge and needs lots of work. If you are a keen gardener - please get in touch.

We live rurally enough to be able to hunt for deer/goats when needed, the beautiful Mahia beach is 30minutes away where we spend most summer weekends and the big cities of Gisborne and Napier are not too far to enjoy a weekend or day away.
Your own transport is a must 🚗

Accommodation
We have 2 options depending on who comes to join us and for how long. In our big 4 bedroom house there is a spare room with a comfy queen bed. We also have a fully contained cottage 2 paddocks over that would be ideally used before putting someone in our home. These photos are in my profile.

What else ...
As stated above there are the locations of Mahia, Napier, Gisborne, Wairoa ect. You will need your own transport.
The caves are 5minutes down the road from us, hot pools are 15minutes down the road, Mahia beach ect.

My animals / pets
Noodle (9 years)
Noodle is the original in the household ~ he is 12years old and rules the roost. Noodle is a small inside toy poodle who comes everywhere with us. He is very low maintenance - Noodle enjoys sunny days chasing bugs/birds, dinner time and snuggles. Noodle loves all people and is very chill.
Leo (6 years)
Leo is a very friendly and very BIG, fat cat. Haha. Leo enjoys food (of course), lap snuggles, sleeping in odd places and any child/adult that will give him attention. He is what we call ‘bomb proof’ and not much bothers him. The kids can lay next to him and stack toys on top of him while he purrs away - he loves to hunt and will always find your lap on a cold day.
Remi (3 years)
Remi is Sukis half sister and is older by 6months ~ she is a little more friendly than Suki but is really just a bush cat who loves to be outside most the time. She comes in for food, snacks and a comfy warm place to sleep. She enjoys pats and a good brush.
Suki (3 years)
Suki is a mummies girl and does not appreciate new people. She is very sweet but will keep to herself.
