My name is Alejandro and I am from Mexico City. I always wanted to have my own little diving school and one year ago I came to Mazunte to open my dive school and shop. I am very happy here, because the life here is different and we can do what we really like. Every day when we go down we can find different sealife, new species and it is always an adventure. The coast of Oaxaca is still very virgin and for that there is a lot to see and to explore. The wildlife is very active here. We are also the only dive school in the whole region (zipolite, puerto angel, san agustinillo and mazunte).
Helping with Tourists
Help with Computers / internet
We are looking for a person (or persons) who loves the sea and its wildlife, who is open-minded to new adventures, and likes working with people. You don't need any experience but it would be perfect if you are interested in diving or if you want to learn.
The idea is that our volunteer can help us in the diveshop selling tours and equipment and also if you speak various languages you could help us with translating information at the dive center and on the water tours.
If you have a divers license you can also help with the diving sessions.
In addition to the dive center we operate an internet and video game room above the dive center, and it is sometimes necessary for volunteers to help manage this area as well.
We could also use a person who has experience with online marketing and can help us spread the word about our dive center.
Please contact me with any questions reguarding this opportunity.
Spanish, a bit of English
I offer a private room with private bathroom and one meal (breakfast will be provided every day from a local restaurant). You will have the opportunity to earn commission for helping sell our boat tours.
If you want to take a diving course with me, I will offer you a discounted rate, and you will have an exellent teacher! :)
Next to diving, all kinds of watersports are very popular here. There is surfing, bodyboarding, boogie boarding, snorkelling, fishing tours, kayak rentals etc. Whale season is from October to March, and you can make a tour with a local fisherman for 200 pesos mexicanos (16$).
There are many yoga studios to visit in the area during your time off. In Mazunte, you will find the wildly famous turtle conservation center, or you can visit La Ventanilla, where you will see wild crocodiles in their natural environment.
Local river walks are very popular and are filled with natural waterfalls and other interesting sights.
Also, Punta Cometa is within close walking distance, it is a very special place with a lot of energy.
