Description
Kia ora! I’m Cherie — a friendly, down-to-earth Kiwi mum of two, living just 5–10 minutes from the stunning Mangawhai surf beaches, bush walks, cafés, and weekend markets. After years of living on a larger self-sustainable farm, I’ve now relocated to a smaller home base where I’m building a simpler, slower, and more connected life — and I’d love a hand along the way!
I’m a qualified naturopath, life coach and massage therapist with a deep love for nature, soulful conversations, organic gardening, emotional wellness, and conscious living. My two beautiful children keep life full, and while I juggle parenting and work, I welcome help around the home and garden to keep everything flowing.
Help Needed:
• General gardening and weeding
• Help around the home
• Childcare or play support
• Animal care (we still have a few furry and feathered friends!)
• Cooking, cleaning, or organizing if that’s your strength
About Our Home:
We share our space with two loving dogs, a gorgeous Bengal cat, two cheeky rainbow lorikeets, and my soulful horse, Cruize 🐾🐴🦜 It’s a home filled with life, laughter, feathers and fur — so if you’re allergic to or fearful of animals or children… this may not be the right place for you 😅
Our kids are part of the rhythm of our home — bright, curious, and full of energy. They love making new friends, asking questions, and joining in where they can. If you’re not comfortable being around little ones or find child energy overwhelming, we totally understand — but this probably won’t be the right fit for you.
Our lifestyle is grounded in values of sustainability, self-awareness, emotional healing, and spirituality. Whether it’s through gardening, conversation, breathwork, or shared cups of tea — I value connection, presence, and living in a way that honours both the earth and ourselves.
In Exchange:
I offer accommodation in a cozy cabin just a short walk from the main house — with a double bed, heater, and fridge. Bathroom and kitchen are in the main house, which you’ll have access to as needed. Wi-Fi is available. I provide food and shared meals, and in exchange I ask for around 4 hours help a day. I’m happy to be flexible if you want to sightsee or explore locally.
Extras:
We’re close to all the beauty Mangawhai offers — surf beaches, Te Arai, walking tracks, glow worm caves, weekend markets, and even a European-style cheese shop in nearby Kaiwaka. You’ll have space for your own time while still being part of a home that values heart, humour, and honest living.
Please Note:
• If you have dietary needs (e.g. gluten-free, dairy-free, etc.), please let me know ahead of time — you’re welcome to bring your own specialty items as needed.
• If you confirm a stay with me, please honour it — I prepare your space, plan jobs around your arrival, and turn others away once you’re booked.
If you’re someone who enjoys a simple lifestyle, loves being around kids and animals, and values meaningful connection — I’d love to welcome you here.Types of help and learning opportunities

Hannah fed the animals for us, helped around the house with chores and spent lovely time with the kids.
We loved having her stay and would recommend her to any host.
Good luck on your travels Hannah 🤗
I stayed with them for two weeks and had a wonderful time, especially making my new friend Summer.
My tasks mostly contained gardening, feeding animals or chores around the house.
This stay is great if you want to learn about self substainability/gardening, or like kids as well as all… read more
So vibrant, funny, hardworking, self directed and GREAT with our kids and animals.
We would have her stay again ANY day!
At first the interaction was great, but as the two week stay went on there were a few things that made it a bit challenging.
