    Description

We are a family of four from the Netherlands who recently bought a house with two separate apartments in the south of Spain. We love meeting new people from all over the world and would be happy to host you in one of our apartments.

    Culture, Nature & Local Life
This area is known for its stunning nature, dramatic cliffs, and some of the best beaches in Spain. It’s also famous for its fresh tuna fish and warm, welcoming people. We live right next to a beautiful nature park, perfect for hiking and enjoying the outdoors.

What You Can Do & Learn
We’d love your help with various projects around the house, such as:

Gardening & taking care of our fruit trees 🌿
    Painting & maintenance 🎨
    Other creative or hands-on tasks
No experience? No problem! We’re happy to teach you new skills, and we love learning from others as well.

If you're looking for a place to experience local culture, enjoy nature, and learn new things in a relaxed setting, this might be the perfect fit!

    Culture, Learning & Fun
The house is located in Barbate, between Cádiz and Tarifa, just minutes from the beach—perfect for enjoying the sun and sea. The nearby town of Vejer de la Frontera (only 8 minutes away) is a stunning pueblo blanco, full of history, Andalusian culture, and lively local traditions.

If you love the ocean, there are plenty of surf spots in the area, such as El Palmar and Tarifa, known for their great waves and relaxed surf culture. For those who love exploring cities, Cádiz is just a short drive away, offering rich history, delicious tapas, and vibrant streets. If you're up for a bigger adventure, Seville is also within reach!

We believe in sharing skills and learning together. Whether it's improving your Spanish together, working with your hands, or immersing yourself in local traditions, this is a place where you can learn, create, and enjoy.

    Help

We have already completed major renovations with local companies in Spain, and we have more big projects coming up with professional teams.

However, we love collaborating with Workawayers on smaller hands-on tasks that contribute to the space while providing a fun and rewarding learning experience. Whether you already have these skills or want to learn something new, we are happy to teach and guide you along the way!

What we’d love to work on together:
Painting the house (inside & outside).
Sanding and oiling our teak outdoor furniture, including wooden racks.
Gardening – we have various fruit trees and other plants that need pruning and care.
Building a real pizza oven—nothing too big, just enough for 2-3 pizzas. (can be a fun learning project together):)
Learning Spanish! We’d love to find someone who can help us improve our language skills, and we can also help you practice.
Adding creative touches: we have two large outdoor walls where we’d love to see some artistic painting or graffiti.

    Culture & Surroundings
Barbate is a hidden gem on the Andalusian coast, known for its stunning beaches, delicious seafood (especially the famous atún rojo), and beautiful natural parks. You can explore the nearby La Breña y Marismas del Barbate Natural Park, enjoy breathtaking coastal hikes, or visit the charming white villages (pueblos blancos) like Vejer de la Frontera.

The region has a strong cultural heritage, with local ferias, flamenco music, and a relaxed Mediterranean lifestyle. It’s a great place to learn more about Andalusian traditions, enjoy fresh food, and soak in the laid-back Spanish way of life.

We believe in sharing skills and creating a collaborative environment. If you have an idea or something you’d love to learn or teach, let us know—we’d love to make it happen together!

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

The house consists of two separate apartments, each fully equipped for a comfortable stay.
Normally, you will stay in one of these apartments, which includes:

Your own private bedroom – 100% privacy guaranteed
A shared apartment with only one other Workawayer (each apartment has 2 bedrooms)
Your own bathroom, kitchen, and living space
A cozy living room with a TV, Netflix, and other streaming options
A beautiful garden with a swimming pool – the perfect place to relax after work

The location offers the best of both worlds: peace and nature, yet close to Barbate and Vejer de la Frontera, where you can enjoy local culture, stunning beaches, and vibrant Andalusian life.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We have already hosted multiple Workawayers, always in good harmony and with mutual respect. We love the exchange of ideas, cultures, and skills, and we aim to create a space where you can learn, grow, and enjoy.

    Flexibility & Daily Rhythm
We are flexible with workdays and hours—we can adjust to what works best for everyone. Of course, some things need to get done 😉, but we want to keep it balanced and enjoyable.

We have two young kids (Samuel, born in February 2022, and Felix, born in July 2024), so our household follows an early rhythm:

Mornings start early (kids wake up at 06:00).
Evenings are also early (dinner at 18:00 Dutch time, kids in bed by 19:00).
We completely understand that this schedule might not match your rhythm, so here’s an idea that could work:

    Work for 4 hours a day (10:00 – 14:00).
At 14:00, we prepare a big, warm lunch to enjoy together.
The rest of the day is yours—to relax, surf, explore, or do whatever makes you happy.
Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, so you can prepare your own breakfast and a light dinner whenever it suits you.

This is just a suggestion—we’re open to different ideas and arrangements. Let’s find a setup that works best for everyone!
