    Description

We’re a friendly, relaxed family living in Puigpunyent, a beautiful village in the mountains of Mallorca, around 20 minutes from Palma. We’re Matt and Chloe, and we have our one-year-old son Jesse, who is a happy, curious little boy and very much at the centre of family life.
We love living here for the combination of village life, mountains, beaches and easy access to Palma. There are wonderful walks straight from the village and some of Mallorca’s most beautiful coastline and countryside are close by.

We’re looking for someone warm, responsible and easy-going who would enjoy becoming part of our family for a while, helping us with Jesse and everyday family life, while also having plenty of time to explore Mallorca, experience Spanish life and enjoy everything the island has to offer.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We’d love whoever stays with us to feel part of the family while they’re here. We enjoy cooking and eating together, spending time outdoors and exploring the island, and you’d be very welcome to join us whenever you’d like.
Living in Puigpunyent offers a chance to experience a quieter, more authentic side of Mallorca while still being close to Palma, the mountains and the coast. We’re happy to share what we’ve learnt about the island and help you discover places you might not otherwise find as a visitor.
We’ve both travelled and lived in different places and really enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures. We’d love Jesse to grow up around people from different parts of the world too, so for us the cultural exchange is very much a two-way experience.

The main reason we’re looking for an au pair is to have some extra help with our one-year-old son, Jesse, and to give us a little more flexibility in our day-to-day family life.
We’d love to find someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with young children and is happy playing with Jesse, taking him for walks, helping with meals and generally being part of his daily routine. There may also be some light help with everyday things around the house, but childcare and being an extra pair of hands as part of the family would be the main focus.
We both have some flexibility with work, so this won’t be about leaving you to manage everything on your own. Much of the time we’ll be around and sharing things together, while at other times having someone we trust with Jesse will give us the opportunity to work, exercise or occasionally have some time together.
We’d like this to feel like a genuine cultural exchange rather than simply a working arrangement. You’ll be welcomed into our family life, while also having your own space and plenty of free time to explore Mallorca, meet people, learn or improve your Spanish and enjoy living on the island.

This host offers a language exchange
We’re both native English speakers and would be very happy to help anyone looking to practise or improve their English. We’re also learning Spanish ourselves, so we’d particularly welcome Spanish speakers and would love the opportunity to practise and learn from each other. Jesse is also growing up in Mallorca and will be attending a local Catalan-speaking school, so we’re very keen for languages to be a natural part of family life.

    Accommodation

You’ll have your own comfortable private bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and direct access to the garden and swimming pool, so you’ll have plenty of privacy and your own space during your stay.
We’ll provide food as part of your stay and you’ll be very welcome to eat with us and share family meals. We enjoy cooking and eating together, but you’re also welcome to make your own food and use the kitchen whenever you prefer.
We can also offer use of a car by arrangement, giving you the freedom to explore Mallorca and get around independently during your free time.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Puigpunyent is a beautiful village in the foothills of the Tramuntana mountains, surrounded by countryside and great walking and cycling. Palma is around 20 minutes away by car, and the beaches, mountain villages and west coast of Mallorca are all within easy reach.
There is public transport from the village, although having access to a car makes exploring the island much easier. We can offer use of a car by arrangement, and we’re also happy to help with lifts when we can.

In your free time there’s a huge amount to explore, from Palma and its restaurants, cafés and nightlife to beaches, hiking, cycling and some of Mallorca’s beautiful mountain and coastal villages.

Our home life is relaxed and informal. We have a young child, so naturally our days tend to revolve around Jesse’s routine, but we want whoever stays with us to feel comfortable, independent and at home rather than like a guest who has to fit around us all the time. We’d simply ask that you treat our home as you would your own and are considerate of family life.

We have good Wi-Fi throughout the house and plenty of space to work, so our home should suit someone who works remotely. We’re happy to agree the times we’ll need help in advance, so you can plan your own work and free time around this. We’d just ask that when you’ve agreed to spend time with Jesse, you’re able to give him your full attention.
