Help bring a historic Jamaican Great House back to life! 🏡🌴 Join a creative renovation adventure with horses, kitesurfing, and classic cars!

I’m german, living in Jamaica since 2002, an equestrian coach and kitesurf instructor with a deep love for horses, history, nature—and old VW buses! I recently started an exciting project: renovating a beautiful 18th-century Great House in Jamaica, built in 1752. The house is full of character (and quirks!), and my dream is to restore it with care and creativity.

I share my life with two lovely horses (who will soon live on the property), and one very sweet rescue dog—Oscar! He’s friendly, full of personality, and will probably be your shadow while you’re here.

I’m also the proud owner of two VW T2 buses—so if you’re into classic cars, we’ll definitely have something to talk about.

We eat vegetarian here and provide home-cooked vegetarian meals. If you prefer to add meat to your meals, you’re free to prepare it in our shared kitchen (though we don’t cover the cost of meat).

    More than just a house…
This is more than just a renovation—it’s a passion project close to my heart. One of my biggest dreams is to start a racehorse rescue and retirement program on the property. There’s so much pasture here, and I want to create a peaceful, respectful place where horses can truly rest and be horses again.

If you love animals, rustic charm, river cool offs, and creative transformation, come join me (and Oscar!) in breathing new life into this incredible place.

    Let’s build something beautiful—together. 💛

Volunteering here offers a unique chance to immerse yourself in Jamaican culture while being part of a meaningful restoration project. You’ll experience a slower, more grounded way of life, surrounded by nature and history.

We often cook and share meals together, and you’ll get to try authentic Jamaican vegetarian dishes, learn about local ingredients, and even join in cooking if you’d like. On your days off, you can explore nearby beaches, visit local markets, or take day trips to waterfalls, rivers, and cultural sites. I’m happy to help with suggestions or even go on little adventures together when time allows!

There’s also the opportunity to meet other volunteers from different countries, exchange stories, ideas and skills.. This is a creative, social space where we learn from each other and share good vibes.

You’ll also get to see what daily life is like in Jamaica outside the typical tourist spots.

You’ll stay in a shared double room inside the Great House, with access to a shared bathroom. It’s simple but full of charm—think big windows, rustic vibes, and lots of fresh air. We’re still in the early stages of renovation, so be ready for a bit of adventure and improvisation!

The nearest airport is Montego Bay (MBJ). From there, you can take the comfortable and affordable Knutsford Express bus to Falmouth, where I’ll be happy to pick you up (it’s about a 35–40 minute drive from the airport).

I’ll take you to the supermarket 2–3 times a week so you can stock up on any personal groceries or snacks you might want.

On your days off, you’re free to explore! You can use the Knutsford Express to visit other towns or beaches, hop into local route taxis (a popular form of shared transport), or rent a car if you want more flexibility for adventure.

This is a peaceful, rural area—perfect for nature lovers, creatives, and anyone looking to disconnect from stress and reconnect with purpose and simplicity.
