Description
We are a happily retired couple, teacher and chef, who are living in a lovely log home, perched above the Athabasca River, with a panoramic view of the Rocky Mountains. We have hosted 6 work away young women and 2 couples with whom we remain in contact. We are now 73 and would like help with what was previously easy for us to do - yard work, maintaining the logs in the house, small painting projects etc. We think that anybody coming to stay with us will have a good experience as we are used to having young people around and enjoy the enthusiasm and energy they bring.

We live on a acreage, about 15 minutes away from Jasper National Park, and about 40 minutes from Jasper townsite. The view from our house is beautiful, and there are numerous, hiking, biking and running trails right out the door. 10 minutes up the road is a world class cross country ski/biking area. In the valley below us is Entrance B and B which provides horse sight seeing trips. We are 10 minutes from Hinton. There is an active indigenous culture here. I am a retired teacher and my husband is a chef. We provide meals that are exceptionally appealing. What I think would be especially interesting to an individual would be the location of our house, the surrounding area and Jasper National Park.
Help
We are looking for someone who is able to maintain the general upkeep around the acreage. For inside chores, we are looking for someone who is able to paint a bathroom, perhaps kitchen as well. We live in a log home and would like to have the logs washed and oiled on the inside and perhaps washed on the outside. Anybody with some carpentry skills would also be welcome.

We have 2 bedrooms upstairs that are available. You would share the kitchen, living room etc, but have your own room and there is a bathroom upstairs as well. You will share our meals with us. Occasionally, if we are away, you would make your own.
What else ...
There would be plenty of time off, 4 work hours a day, weekends or more off, would be all we would expect or you can arrange your day/week as you like. Work/play balance and seeing you have fun is very important to us. If you like to hike, bike, ride a horse (at an expense at the B and B) or sight see some of the most beautiful terrain in the world, this is the place to stay. It is necessary you have your own transportation as there is no public transportation here and we are 15 minutes from Hinton and about 40 minutes to Jasper townsite.

They're wonderful and kind people. They have a beautiful house with an amazing view of the mountains from their windows. I felt too much love since I got there.
I'm so happy to meet them.
I spent about four months at their house learning the language, and more! The food is tasty, so tasty. My favorite time… read more
