    Description

    Hi :)
My name is Victoria. I caretake 5 acres of our family property, which is predominately 165 acres of rainforest that borders thousands of acres of national park. These forested areas contain rare flora and an abundance of bird and wildlife. For decades our family and regen. teams have been working to regenerate the land and creek areas where introduced weeds have grown up from when the land was originally partially cleared.

I have planted many natives and other flowering and fruiting trees here and there is also a vegetable garden all grown organically. The whole property is totally off grid and I have a keen interest in sustainable living. We have clean spring water from creeks and a waterfall on the land. The property is a sanctuary and designated 'Land for Wildlife' so this listing doesn't suit anyone with domestic animals unless they are exceptionally well behaved dogs.

Your accommodation is a renovated caravan for sleeping, with a self contained 'little house' that has a kitchen, bathroom, toilet and deck. My house is close by. It was affected by the flood of 2022 and we will be starting on the repairs. Your accommodation will not be affected by any of these work activities. Even though you would have an undisturbed sleeping /living space it would be lovely to share meals and conversation when possible in the big house :)

There are many areas for hiking and swimming holes for a refreshing swim in our area. The beaches of Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads etc are 35 - 45 minutes drive. There is a cafe 5 minutes drive from the house and we are 25 minutes from the local town.
Byron Shire offers many other activities such as hot air ballooning, whale watching, scuba diving in the pristine marine park, surfing, yoga etc

A little about me: My background is nursing, midwifery, teaching (Steiner School). I am the mother of 3 wonderful adult sons. My eldest son lives here on the land with his wife . I love to meet people, share meals and good conversation. I love teamwork but can also happily live and work alone . I am a Pneuma Therapy and Pneuma Breathwork facilitator and for the past 16 years I have been a student of transpersonal psychology and the ancient spiritual traditions. I don't eat meat but if you want to then that is fine by me.

Thank you for your interest and please feel free to contact me if you would like more information.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I love to meet new people and listen to their stories, trying food from their different cultures and learning of their traditions. I can share my knowledge of Australia and its culture, something of the native plants and animals and I am always happy to share information about my studies.

    Help

I would love help working on the land with tasks such as whipper snipping, weeding, rejuvenating the vegetable garden, cleaning and oiling the wooden deck, clearning debris, feeding and mulching the fruit trees. I have foot bridges over small creeks to build, simple steps to make so it is easier to access the terraces, there is firewood to chop etc. You would need to be fit, healthy, love outdoor work and nature and not be afraid of the forest. If someone has specific skills eg. plumbing or building then we could always find tasks there too. I will be helping when possible and I love to share the knowledge I have about forest regeneration, living off grid, native foods, the different cutures I have visited etc and listen to your experiences and understandings of life

Your own transport would be helpful if you want to go exploring the wider areas of Nth NSW. There is a school / public bus to town that runs during the week in the morning and evening. If needed I could take you to the bus and pick you up from if you do not have your own transport. I enjoy the sound of nature and love that the air and water is clean here and I can eat food straight from the garden . I am a non smoker and non drinker of alcohol.
