    Description

Ekai and Emma live with two cats on a forested acre on Fox Mountain, above Williams Lake, in a unique gothic arch style home. We live close to the trail network for biking and hiking, and are fifteen minutes from town by car.

Williams Lake has awesome mountain biking, climbing and hiking opportunities, and is a great base camp when exploring all the Cariboo has to offer. During recent travel (Norway!) we met several kind workawayers and when we got home decided to open our home to those looking to explore the Cariboo.

Lots of hopes and dreams for our home in the woods equals lots of potential projects for workawayers! The top priorities right now: laying wood chips in the garden, taking the leaf insulation off garden beds, cleaning up the yard making meals & building for small projects (pig pen, sauna deck, shed, etc), and beyond.

    Perks of being here:
    - Mountain bike with us! We can help outfit you with a bike during your stay.
    - Test out the new sauna and cold plunge tub.
    - Community - we are hyper social and spend many nights a week with friends or at community events.
    - Workshop/studio space available. Currently set up for plastic recycling, formerly a pottery studio. There are sewing, crafting & painting supplies galore.
    - Home gym for you to use! We have a squat rack, chin up bar, mats, & a bike trainer.

Ideally we like to host people for a maximum of 2-3 weeks.

  • Help

    Help

The main project we are looking for help with is clearing brush and sticks to reduce wildfire risk. We have a small forested property (1 acre) with many woodpiles and fallen trees that need to be cleared. The piles will be turned into hugelkulture garden beds or trailered for disposal. Other projects could include gardening, fence-building, painting, house maintenance or making meals. It's really up to your interests and skillset!

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Williams Lake is a great place to explore the Cariboo from. We live outside of walking distance but a short drive away from town. One of us commutes to town for work so there are rides available on weekdays. We often go into town in the evenings or on weekends.

We can lend sporting gear during your stay, and invite you to join our adventures.

One of us and works from a home office and is home all day.

Transit to Williams Lake can be challenging, there is a private bus service and an airport. There is a possibility to arrange for pick up from Kamloops or Prince George.

We have not hosted a workawayer yet.

We are not big party people and cannot offer that type of experience. We expect those who stay with us not to smoke cigarettes while at our home.
