  Description

  I am a multidisciplinary artist. I acquired 3 years ago, a magnificent estate housing a stone house dating from 1825 and a barn transformed into an art studio where I live with my 18-year-old daughter. My project is to link the arts to agriculture to create a lifestyle that promotes our connection to the land by integrating places conducive to creation and introspection. We pick and press the apples in the fall to make our artisanal cider.

J'ai acquis il y a 3 ans, un magnifique domaine abritant une maison de pierres datant de 1825 et une grange transformée en atelier d'art où je réside avec ma fille de 18 ans. Mon projet est de relier les arts à l'agriculture pour créer un style de vie qui favorise notre lien à la terre en intégrant des lieux propices à la création et l'introspection. Nous cueillons et pressons les pommes à l'automne pour la fabrication de notre cidre artisanale.

  Art is at the heart of life at the orchard. Philosophical discussions around an atypical way of life in respect with people at the rhythm of the earth. The cultivation of apples and fruit trees is typical of Quebec and several artisanal practices are oriented around these cultures. Manufacture of cider and by-products. Learned carpentry work. The region is renowned for its culture and heritage, beautiful encounters and beautiful shared moments. Artistic material is made available to workawayers to work on personal projects in their free time.
  
  L'art est au coeur de la vie au verger. Discussions philosophiques autour d'un mode de vie atypique en respect avec les gens au rythme la terre. La culture des pommes et des arbres fruitiers est typique du Québec et plusieurs pratiques artisanales sont orientées autour de ces cultures. Fabrication du cidre et produits dérivés. Aprentissage de travaux de menuiserie. La région est réputée pour sa culture et son patrimoine, de belles rencontres et de beaux moments partagés. Du matériel artistique est mis à disposition des workawayers afin de travailler sur des projets personnels dans leurs temps libre.

  Help

  The main help I seek is maintenance help in the orchard, picking, bottling cider and help with the maintenance of historic buildings. I am looking for workawayers who have manual skills and basic carpentry skills. Expect to do gardening, pruning fruit trees, picking fruit, pressing apples, bottling cider, maintaining the grounds and heritage buildings. Physical tasks mostly outdoors.
  
  Participation in the preparation of meals.
  
  
  L'aide principale que je recherche est le travail d'entretien au verger, la cueillette, la mise en bouteille du cidre et de l'aide pour la maintenance des bâtiments historiques. Je recherche des workawayers qui ont des aptitudes manuelles et des aptitudes en menuiserie de base . Il faut s'attendre à jardiner, tailler les arbres fruitiers, cueillir les fruits, presser les pommes, embouteillage du cidre, entretien du terrain et des bâtiments patrimoniaux. Travail physique majoritairement à l'extérieur.

  A bed set up in the orchard shack. Community meals with residents. Rustic way of life revolving around the products of the land. Breathtaking view of the mountain and the illuminated horizon.

  What else ...

  The Mont St-Hilaire Park nature reserve is accessible on foot, hiking in the forest, agrotourism tours of the region; vineyards, cider houses, markets, artist workshops, artisan bakeries, social cafe, poetry evenings, bike paths to Montreal, Spa within walking distance, picnics and especially beautiful evenings around the fire.
  
  La réserve naturelle du Parc du Mont St-Hilaire est accesssible a pied, randonnée en forêt, visites agrotouristiques de la région; vignobles, cidreries, marchés, ateliers d'artiste, boulangeries artisanales, café a caractère social , soirées de poésie, pistes cyclable se rendant à Montréal, Spa à distance de marche, picnics et surtout de belles soirées autour du feu.
  
  Il n'est pas possible de travailler en parallèle lors d'un séjour ici.

  Yes. Wifi and working space are available. The project give the opportunity to work on a personal artistic project during their stay, there is tree studio available to work, One is available only on summer time into the orchard, really poetic and silence vibe to create.

  Space for parking camper vans

  We organized a wonderful area to receive van or camper under the fruit trees, with a picnic table and a hamac, the workawayer have a full bathroom inside and they have access to the kitchen and leaving room in the barn.
