Description
My name is Yuster Njau. I am a 49-year-old teacher, happily married, and a proud mother of three children. Professionally, I serve as a school coordinator for both primary and secondary schools, but my deepest passion lies in my role as the founder. Our organization is dedicated to elevating the quality of life for these amazing children, protecting their rights, and building an inclusive community. We work tirelessly to raise public awareness, promote child protection, and completely eradicate the stigma, discrimination, and harmful stereotypes that children with disabilities and their families often face.
To achieve this, our organization runs a structured weekly program where volunteers play a vital role directly at our center. From Monday to Thursday, we operate our specialized daycare center. During these days, you will work hands-on at the center alongside our Special Needs Teacher and Caregiver, helping to adapt educational materials, teach the children, manage behaviors, utilize specialized equipment, and provide daily care. On Fridays, our focus shifts to our "Door-to-Door" home visit initiative. On these days, you will join our team to visit the children in their homes, providing physical therapy, psychosocial support, healthcare guidance, and basic necessities to families facing poverty, while also monitoring the progress of children enrolled in local schools.
When you join us, you become part of a highly organized, professional team that works collaboratively to support these families. Our core staff includes a Program Manager, who coordinates our projects and ensures everything runs smoothly, and a skilled Social Worker, who conducts assessments, provides individual and group therapy, designs treatment plans, and supports families during crisis situations. Together with our teaching and caregiving staff, we work as a family to ensure every child receives the highest level of care.
To expand our impact, we are especially looking for volunteers with professional backgrounds in healthcare and specialized education. We deeply need the expertise of **physiotherapists, occupational therapists, special needs teachers, speech-language pathologists, nurses, doctors, and neurologists**. However, you do not need to be a medical expert to make a difference here; we welcome any proactive volunteer with a big heart, an open mind, and a willingness to learn. We warmly invite you to share your unique skills, immerse yourself in our culture, and help us bring bright smiles and sustainable support to these beautiful children. -
