Description
My name is John, I am a former professional chef and restaurant owner from New Zealand. Now retired, I spend my time looking after and developing the land on which I have been living for the past year. I have three young goats who are very people friendly and love to be taken for walks. My block of land is 10 minutes out of Waipu in Northland, about two hours north from Auckland and 45 minutes south of Whangarei. Situated on the hill with stunning sea views and vistas over the Brynderwyn Hills.

As a former professional chef, I can teach a variety of cooking techniques to anyone keen to learn. I grow a lot of my own food and have some knowledge of permaculture and sub-tropical horticulture.

Separate private accommodation is a small lodge set at the top of the property with stunning views. The lodge runs on solar energy capable of powering a fridge, lighting and small appliances. Cooking is via gas stove; however, most meals will be provided (breakfast and dinner). Downstairs is a fair sized living/dining area and bathroom with a large walk-in shower and two bedrooms upstairs. There is a working wood burner, decking areas, BBQ and pizza oven. Access to laundry facilities.
What else ...
Ideally you will have your own transportation due to the rural location of the property. The InterCity public transport system does stop at Waipu though.
During time off there are plenty of small towns to visit, multiple stunning beaches and walking trails. Waipu is a small Scottish town providing all the amenities you would expect with plenty of eateries and shops. The nearest big town is Ruakaka, about 15 minutes away, with a Fresh Choice supermarket. Nearby beaches like Waipu Cove are popular surfing spots on the 17km stretch of golden sand beach 15 minutes away. Piroa waterfalls are about 10-15 minutes away and Waipu glowworm caves about 20 minutes; both are well worth visiting.A little more information
