    This is a cosy wee bistro specialising in home-cooked food, Scottish Craft Beers and Spirits and regular live music. The place has earned a reputation for being quirky, innovative, entertaining, and welcoming. We are committed to providing imaginative vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes, alongside the very best of local produce, Scottish meats and seafood. We put on live music 5 times a week, which is provided by an array of talented local and visiting artists. The core team at Crofters' are highly experience professionals, many of whom have worked in the industry all over the world.     We are looking to compliment our team with an energetic, experienced and enthusiastic individual for the summer tourism season with immediate start. Previous hospitality experience is vital with a good working understanding of coffee, cocktails, beer and spirits, food preparation and cellar management. An appreciation of live music is required and a musical background would be ideal.

    References to demonstrate ability to work under own initiative within busy, high-pressure environments, are crucial. The ideal candidate has a strong personality and a sense of humour to join our family.

    The responsibility of the role will include, but is not limited to: all aspects of the Steps of Service Handbook to deliver service to customers including: greeting customers, table management using our online booking system Simpleerb, informing our customers of our products, taking orders using M’aitre’d, running food & drinks, clearing tables, making drinks to order and serving those at the bar, cleaning glasses and equipment and maintaining stock levels – all whilst maintaining a friendly, professional demeanour.

    In addition to steps of service, the role will involve housekeeping duties; cash handling, including cashing up and completion of excel worksheets, administrative paperwork, use of the booking system, and maintaining lines of communication within the business.

    The ideal candidate will have experience within a busy bistro environment as whilst only being a 40 seat restaurant, we can expect to up to 150 covers a day with 70-80 between 5pm-9pm so the ability to work under pressure, whilst maintaining composure and a sense of humour, is crucial.

    We are a close knit, family run establishment specialising in Scottish provenance and authentic hospitality. A strong, confident character with a sense of humour is vital: would suit someone looking for a couple of month's work whilst traveling (UK work visa or citizenship required) with a "can do" attitude. We currently have 2 longterm standing WorkAway applicants who are more than happy to discuss their experiences of their time with us.

    £9 per hour plus tips (pro rata weekly), accommodation available £30 p.w deducted from wages; up to 45 hours a week with 2 1/2 days off per week. To apply for the position please forward a Curriculum Vita, along with a cover note, illustrating your interpretation of “Scottish Hospitality”.

    Our staff accommodation is a single or twin (for friends travelling together) occupancy room in a shared flat situated above the restaurant with kitchen and bathroom facilities. It is basic but functional and clean.

    Arran is a thriving island with fantastic opportunities for almost every type of outdoor activity. There are numerous festivals and concerts throughout the season and great visitor attractions. It is also only 2 hours from Glasgow, so time off in the city is easy to achieve.
