Description
A little piece of Swedish life in the heart of Höga Kusten 🌲✨
Would you like to experience the real Sweden – not just as a tourist, but as part of a warm Swedish family?
We are a family of three: me, Ylva, and my two daughters, aged 11 and 15. We live in the beautiful countryside outside Örnsköldsvik, in the heart of Höga Kusten (High Coast) in northern Sweden.
Our home is surrounded by forests, lakes and incredible nature. We have space, fresh air, wildlife and the feeling of being far away from everyday stress – while still having Örnsköldsvik nearby.
I work quite a lot and sometimes travel for work, and life with two children every other week, a house, cottage and a number of renovation projects has simply become more than one person should have to manage alone.
So we are looking for someone who would enjoy becoming a small part of our family for a while – helping us with practical things around the house and garden, while sharing everyday Swedish life with us. -

What you get in return
You won’t just be staying in a house and working for us.
We would love for you to become part of our everyday life.
We can share meals, Swedish traditions, conversations, walks, adventures and hopefully many laughs together.
When you have free time, there is an enormous amount to discover around us.
🌲 Höga Kusten
The High Coast is one of Sweden’s most spectacular natural areas, with dramatic coastline, forests, mountains, islands and hiking trails.
You can hike, swim, kayak, cycle, explore small villages, visit viewpoints, take ferries out into the archipelago or simply disappear into the forest for a day.
And if you enjoy hiking, there are some truly spectacular trails and viewpoints nearby.
We would also be happy to show you some of our favourite places when our schedules allow.
❄️ Winter in northern Sweden
If you come during the darker months, you get to experience something completely different.
Snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, cosy evenings by the fire – and, if we’re lucky, the Northern Lights dancing across the sky. 🌌
Seeing the aurora from your own doorstep is one of those experiences that never really gets old.
And yes… there will probably be plenty of fika. ☕️🍰 -

Help
What we need help with
We are looking for someone practical, responsible and happy to get their hands dirty.
Depending on your skills and interests, your help could include:
Taking care of the children
🌿 gardening and outdoor tasks
🔨 simple projects
🧹 helping keep the house organised
🍝 cooking and landet
📦 sorting, organising and small household projects
🏡 helping us with the many little things that come with living in a house in the countryside
What matters most to us is that you are reliable, proactive, practical and comfortable working independently.
And we would much rather have someone who sees a messy project and thinks “I wonder if I can fix that?” than someone who needs to be told what to do every five minutes. 😊 -

A little about us
We are an ordinary Swedish family with an extraordinary amount going on at the moment. 😄
My daughters are independent, funny and very different from each other. We have our routines, but we also enjoy spontaneous adventures.
We love being outdoors, different activities, discovering new places, eating good food, talking about life and making the most of where we live.
We are not looking for a perfect person.
We are looking for a good person.
Someone who is curious about Sweden, enjoys family life, respects that we sometimes need quiet time, and wants to exchange experiences rather than simply provide labour.
If you have travelled a lot, are taking a gap year, studying, between jobs or simply want to experience another way of living for a while, you might fit in very well here.
And there is plenty to explore beyond our family
Sweden is easy to fall in love with.
From here you can explore the High Coast, travel further north towards the mountains, experience Swedish winter, visit Stockholm or continue your journey through Scandinavia.
So if you’re looking for a place where you can combine meaningful practical work, Swedish family life, incredible nature and a real adventure, we would love to hear from you.
Come and experience a little piece of Swedish life with us. 🇸🇪❤️ -
