  • Description

We are a private bilingual school for children affected by HIV. We have kinder to grade twelve. The school year runs from mid-February until mid-November. We are seeking native English speakers with at least a high school diploma to teach Monday to Friday from nine until two. Teaching experience is not required, neither is any knowledge of Spanish, but a love of children is !
Volunteers who stay all nine months will be paid a monthly honorarium to cover the cost of food , and accommodation can be provided. We cannot provide an honorarium for shorter terms but may be able to provide accommodation.
Roatan is a beautiful island off the coast of Honduras in the Caribbean sea and is a diver's dream. This is your chance to make a difference with the most disadvantaged children and spend time in an island paradise!

Teach English and English-taught subjects of math and science to grades one to twelve. Some children are islanders that speak English as their first language, others are Spanish speaking and learning English.
Volunteers are encouraged to share any special skills, talents, or passions to benefit the students. Past examples include, music therapy, art, guidance counselling, animal care, and more!
Our volunteers must be flexible, hard-working, and willing to go with the flow. A sense of humour about life is necessary when living in Roatan. You can make a real difference here, but must be up for the challenge.

We are in need of volunteers who can commit to a minimum of 6 weeks as it is more beneficial for the students and the school as a whole.

Please contact us for further information. Please include your intended volunteer dates!

Roatan is a beautiful island renowned for its amazing coral reefs and diving. School ends at 2:30 so volunteers would have ample time to enjoy the island. Some volunteers also find work in the afternoons or weekends to support themselves.
