    Description

We are a inter-generational family living on an acre block in the stunning Shoalhaven region of the New South Wales south coast. We have a permaculture garden in its 4th year of development. As yet it is not producing a lot as we have focused on planting fruit and nut trees and native bush tucker. Some trees are in their first year of fruiting which is exciting. We have planted a mix of staples like citrus and bananas alongside more exotic fruits - dragonfruit, Brazillian cherries, jaboticaba, sapotes and others that we don't see much in the supermarket. Originally I had dreams of a market garden business but the workload clashed with the reality of full time caring and now our dream is to simply have a well-kept, delicious garden that we can share with our friends and neighbours. We have hosted many WWOOFers and love the exchange. Having 2 elderly people in our home makes us a homely and safe option that seems to appeal to first time volunteers.

We all speak English . Jeff speaks fluent Mandarin and loves the chance to speak it.

We love travelling but while we are spending a season caring for our parents we love hosting others on their travelling adventures.

If you're coming to the Shoalhaven it's for the outdoors. Our last volunteer got straight in with the local Christian Surfers crew who paddle out together each week.

Mum and I try to get to the beach once a week. You are always welcome to join us. Likewise if you want to come to church with us.
We love talking and hearing about faith and spirituality.

We're keen to give the whole property a spring clean. Indoors and out. It's all manual labour. The lightest work is indoor cleaning - vacuuming, doing laundry, cleaning windows, bathrooms, floors etc. and weeding outside.

Outdoors is anything from high-pressure hose cleaning of bricks, awnings etc. digging, pruning, mulching in the garden, mowing, whipper-snippering, cleaning the pond, weeding, fencing and whatever else comes up.

Actually the 'lightest' work if your keen would be walking around the block with our 88 year-old matriarch, Marie.

We have a large bus the is semi converted into accommodation. It has a queen size bed, (families with a small child or two might fit - get in touch to discuss extra beds), dining booth, arm chairs and a kitchenette space with electric appliances and shelving/containers for food. You have access to the house laundry which includes a toilet and shower and a shelf in the laundry cupboard for your toiletries.

We provide staples for breakfast and lunch, including homemade bread, our free-range eggs , milk butter etc. We tend to eat at random times during the day then usually share a cooked dinner which you are welcome to join.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Public transport around here is limited. We are happy to give you a lift to the train station which is 5 minutes from our place. From there you can get trains and buses to lots of gorgeous places on your days off.
Plenty of our volunteers have enjoyed their time without a car but honestly, with 100+ beaches within a 1hr drive and mountain/bushwalks to the west it is way better to have your own car.

The Shoalhaven is so beautiful you will love exploring the area. We are very flexible with work hours so you can get out an explore as suits you. As long as you put in the agreed hours, we're happy.

We have 2 border collies which are indoor/outdoor dogs and 8 chickens. All if them love attention.

No smoking or vaping on the property.
