    Description

This farm is an ambitious permaculture / organic farming property and developing community. Located near beautiful Jewel Lake in Southern British Columbia, we are a 4 season paradise. Hot, sunny summer days, with cool clear star filled nights make working the farm a joy in the warmer months. After work we love to head up to the lake for a swim, a sail or a BBQ on the beach. We love to be social and meet people from around the world. For a few years at the beginning of this project we had Wwoofers and Workawayers from around the globe and as we get back into the swing of things we'd like to connect with more interesting people. The farm has large gardens and a few small greenhouses, chickens, dogs, cats, occasionally goats, cows or pigs, a sawmill, a black smith shop, wood shop, brewery, creeks, forests, hills and meadows. Wild strawberries, huckleberries, and Raspberries surround us at certain times of the year, as well as various edible wild mushrooms and many more wildcrafted herbs and foods.
We are also actively looking for people to help develop, join and build a tiny-house/eco-building community on the farm. Building what we are envisioning here on the property takes many hands. Many hands make light work, the saying goes. Its also important to find like minded people who you can work together and live with. This is the hardest part. Open and inquisitive minds, people looking to learn, work together and grow something resilient and long lasting is the goal.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Besides the sharing of knowledge and skills, everyday will be filled with hands on experience from everything from hand tools to farm equipment. Camaraderie and socializing is also important to us. We like to visit the lake every warm day to swim, sail and play. We love to cook great meals with our guests and friends, made from ingredients we source on the farm. There is a communal outdoor kitchen for preparing many of our meals as well as a full kitchen in the main house. We offer breakfast and lunch or dinner (depends on what works best for everyone). Around the campfire at night we solve the worlds problems with a mug of homemade beer in our hands... We are the change we want to see in the world.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have several Bell tents outfitted with queen sized bedframes and comfortable foam mattresses. Composing outhouse toilets and outdoor showers are the norm for the warmer months (May to Sept). We have a woodfired hottub and are planning to finally build a woodfired sauna alongside.

We will provide a basic breakfast which would include fresh fruit, cereals, farm eggs, fresh bread etc, to make your own breakfast. We would sit down for a shared, prepared meal at either lunch or dinnertime (depending on what suits everyone best). We can cater to some dietary requirements but severe food allergies or extreme preferences can't always be accommodated. If you are wondering, best to reach out and ask.
