Description
Dear Workawayers,
we are a collective of film-makers, musicians and puppet artists from Finland, Sweden and Czech. Together we are creating stop motion animation projects, installations and exhibitions in three countries, and also producing other cultural events in Pyhäjoki, Finland and in Prague, CR . Currently we are also working together the Pyhäjoki, Finland, organising together the multicultural program of European Capital of Culture.
We started to cooperate with Workaway during 2013, and we have been accommodating wonderful guests from all continents since then.
Now, during spring 2026, we will installate many exhibitions here in the North, and prepare also the premier and special exhibition of our new stop-motion animation, which is based on the old Roma stories of Carelia. The exhibition takes place in the Art School nearby, and we will show many decorations, props and puppets there, including the screenings of the animation itself. In the summer, we will have also a Roma music festival, with interesting Finnish and Eastern European Roma musicians.
We welcome helpers of all kind- during spring we will clean the gallery and the residency spaces of our 250-years old log houses, and also create presentation materials (printed and on-line) , so we will be happy if you have special skills in lay-out, photographing or web-design.
We need also a helping hand to take care of our rescue dog Kaiku and of our garden during the spring and summer months.
We offer accommodation in cosy, single rooms in the main building and during summer months, in the romantic premises of the barn house. We are cooking together three mostly vegetarian meals per day, our breakfast starts with porridge and sometimes we get fresh fish from the local fishermen! Cooking is also one of the Workaday tasks here, as well as the shopping and kitchen cleaning.
Cultural center is situated in the beautiful area of Northern Osthrobotnia in Finland, in the delta of Pyhäjoki river nearby the Baltic Sea. There are many possibilities for hiking, kayaking and bicycling, and we have also some bikes for the guests.
Welcome!

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We offer a unique opportunity to learn, how the old-school Czech puppet films have developed- only our own collection has puppets from three decades! Also, our Workawayers will meet the local Finnish Roma artists and learn about our fascinating, Northern Roma Culture.

Help
We will also have many happenings and concerts during the summer months, so we would like to find somebody to take care of our social media group and events as well as our web advertising.

When he came to us two years ago, he was very shy and reserved, but slowly he is adapting into our collective and now he has already many closer friends.

For someone who is in love with animation this is paradise! I was lucky to arrive in a time when they were shooting a movie, so I could help with the setbuilding and -painting, which was a lot of fun. It was really a shame that I was there during a time in which I couldn't help much in making the movie. I love Katariina's previous works and taking part in the production process would… read more
