Description
We live in a new subdivision in Collingwood, ON, a beautiful holiday town 2 hours from Toronto.
The town is nestled at the foot of Blue Mountain in the Niagara Escarpment and sits on the shore of the pristine waters of Georgian Bay.
Our home is within biking distance of the town centre, grocery stores, the beach, and hiking trails.
We are near Wasaga Beach, which is the longest freshwater beach in the world. We go there often in the summer. This is a stunning area with so much to do in all seasons, but especially in the summertime.
We are a family of five – Vitaly and Emilie (36), and three children: Léya (10), Radha (7), and Théo (3), plus our cat Daphne (10 months!)*.
We are a trilingual family. Emilie is originally from Montreal and speaks French with the children, while Vitaly is originally from Kazakhstan (he immigrated to Canada in 2000 after a stint in Israel) and speaks Russian with the kids. The children are fluent in all three languages.
Emilie studied engineering in school but quickly switched to working in yoga, meditation, and as a doula. She has been mainly focusing on the children for the last eight years.
Vitaly is also trained as a yoga teacher but now works locally in property management for a short-term rental company.
We are interested in alternative education (Waldorf) and holistic health care and gardening practices (we grow berries and medicinal plants in our garden).
We are looking for someone to help with house chores (gardening, vacuuming, mopping, cooking, and cat care). Child care is helpful but Emilie is actually hoping to spend more time with the kids if she has help with the house!
Emilie has travelled through much of Europe, and Vitaly has travelled to India and parts of Eastern Europe and Russia.
We love languages and culture and would be happy to show the area to our workawayer. Emilie also speaks fluent Spanish and lived in the Basque Country in Spain for a time.
We hope to have a French- or Russian-speaking workawayer but are open to other languages too.
We look forward to connecting!
*update we will also be fostering a beautiful Keeshond dog until the end of July.Types of help and learning opportunities

We have a bedroom in our newly renovated basement with its own private bathroom.
The room has a queen-size bed and is quite spacious.
Our home was built in 2019 and is located in a new subdivision near trails and a river, just a 10-minute bike ride to the waterfront.
We eat mostly organic food, with fresh vegetables and meat from local farms as much as possible.
When it comes to meals, we’re flexible and happy to find what works best for our workawayer. They are welcome to eat with our family (breakfast, lunch, and dinner), or we can provide food for them to prepare their own meals.
We eat simple, organic meals.
Breakfast: Our staples include eggs and bacon, yogurt and cereals, or cheese, jam, and bread. We also have a great coffee machine for espresso, cappuccinos, and regular coffee.
Lunch: We usually have ingredients available for sandwiches and salads, or leftovers from the night before (tuna, eggs, sliced meats, etc.).
Dinner: In the summer, we rotate between chicken, fish, beef, and pork, and often make soups and other meals with lots of fresh veggies.
Fresh fruit and berries are available throughout the day. What else ...
There are a number of cute cafes and shops in town, an arboretum that is accessible by bike or bus and many beaches and trails in the area to explore.
