Description
Hello traveller. We are Jon and Sonia and live just outside of Truro on a 12 acre property with a gorgeous view . We live with our 15 year old daughter, 2 indoor cats, a sweet medium sized dog and are awaiting a horse or two to arrive shortly.
We have been living here for almost two years and have lots of space for ideas to grow and welcome an energetic, easy to live with traveller to enjoy our home and land.
Aside from the general help around the property and home we currently have our seasonal wood stacking project in preparation for the cold weather. Jon works abroad the majority of the time and Sonia who is homesteading full time, has an injury that prevents her from working the way she once used to. But the wood needs to be stacked and soon!
Depending on the weather and how much of the warmer season is left, there is also closing up the small veggie garden and tidying up the flower beds.
There is always work to be done.
If you have the inclination to give a hand and stay while enjoying being 15 minutes away from Truro, enjoy home cooked meals and fresh air we would love to have you be part of our home and family. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Here you will experience a well balanced family life in a rural space.
Home cooked meals can be made together, culinary skills can be shared while cooking together or slide into a family meal ready for you after working outside.
Head out on Saturday to the farmers market in town to feel the community vibe and discover some local goodies.
Discover some beautiful places together or head out on your own to explore the province.
Depending on weather and the season you could join us on a family walk in nearby Victoria Park and view the waterfalls; head out to the north shore beach for a sunset view and stroll; travel into Halifax for some city vibes and restaurants; take part in a mud run on the ocean floor or drive to Cape Breton for a truly maritime feel.
Be part of a nourishing, fun and wholesome sweet little life. -

Accommodation
In our raised bungalow you will be tucked away from the busyness of the home, in a warm and welcoming, light filled room with a queen size bed and large closet. You have a large private bathroom with walk in shower down the hall. There is shared laundry, a large rec room with a ping pong table, and an oversized couch for lounging by a wood stove.
Upstairs is the heart of the home with our kitchen, living room, dining room and family bedrooms.
We love good food shared together. We eat clean, mostly organic foods and are able to accomodate gluten free, dairy free and vegetarian meals. We enjoy our largest meal either midday or at dinner time, depending on the season and activities. You can expect to join us for meals or feel free to help yourself to the stocked fridge and pantry. Dinner will be prepared to share together. Breakfast and lunch could either be DIY or shared depending on the day. -
What else ...
This is an opportunity for all of us to work and live together and create beautiful moments and spaces.
We have successfully shared living with others through clear agreements, communication, deep respect and understanding. -
