    Who we are:
Hi there. I’m Rachel and I teach children English and run adventurous journeys and team-building courses in a small outdoor/riding stable centre just outside Turin in Italy. We re-connect kids with nature, do environmental projects like cleaning the River Po from plastic, and work with refugees and the Duke of Edinburgh's international award adventure journeys. From October to May we are an after school club teaching Cambridge English. In the summer months we organize summer camps with all kinds of fun outdoor activities and we are proud to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh's International Award since 2021, providing outdoor education and adventure journeys for young people from ages 14-24 years old.

I am English, my husband is Italian and we have 3 children, who are studying and working here and abroad. Our house is a historic farmhouse set in a private park, surrounded by woods. We have stables for our 4 horses and 3 ponies . Our place offers plenty of space and options for workawayers to stay in their own or a shared room, or cabin (depending on the season). We are looking for help with assisting the English courses and cleaning the horses and stables, as well as helping around the house and garden and at our new land 'The Wildside' We are looking for someone who is fit, positive and flexible. Someone who likes children and animals and is able to drive (manual). Being comfortable riding horses and more than just cleaning stables (e.g. lunging, brushing and riding..) would be amazing, but is not mandatory. So if you are a happy person and a hard worker, who is looking to spend lots of time outside and around kids, or if you are an experienced teacher, outdoor instructor, rider or happy to work in the garden, make sure you reach out to us! We look forward to meeting you!!
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    The role:
This is a flexible volunteer position where tasks are tailored to your skills, experience, and interests. We want everyone to enjoy their time with us and contribute where they excel. Tasks may include horse care, such as cleaning stables, grooming, and assisting with riding if you are confident; teaching and working with children, including helping with English courses, summer camps, team-building activities, pony rides, and creative projects for kids aged 6–16; administration, such as helping with adventure journey planning, school trips, office work, filing, and organizing resources; and gardening and maintenance, including planting, landscaping, building paths or steps, and helping with small woodland cabins or outdoor structures. You will only do tasks that suit your strengths and interests. If there is something you are less confident with or do not enjoy, we will focus your role on where you are strongest and can shine.

    The dates/hours:
Flexible start dates are available every three months. August we are closed. Our typical hours of operation are 5 per day, 5 days per week (sometimes weekends if needed). Board and lodging are provided in our farmhouse or cabins. We are looking for positive, flexible, and independent volunteers who enjoy being outdoors, are happy to work with children and animals, and are eager to learn. Being able to drive a manual car is helpful but not required. Existing skills in teaching, horse care, outdoor education, or gardening are a plus.

    What we offer:
We offer a comfortable room or cabin with home-cooked meals, hands-on experience in outdoor education, horse care, and working with children, a supportive, family-friendly environment, and opportunities to develop new skills and contribute to meaningful projects. We also offer payment at minimum wage in Italy.

If this sounds like you, we would love to hear from you! Come join our team and help us create memorable experiences for kids, care for animals, and make a positive impact in nature.

    Help

Typically we hire teachers, gardeners and help with horses. Some details to follow on the gardener/maintenance position...

The "Maintainer" of the grounds has various responsibilities, including feeding horses, landscaping and gardening, setup/takedown of tents, building sheds, painting, fixing things...the list is endless for what you can do! We are looking for someone hard-working that would like to join a very positive and dynamic group of people at our centre. This person needs to have experience working with their hands, working outdoors and with various tools, and just generally with the right attitude to take on new projects! If you like a challenge, and you like being part of a team, this opportunity could be for you!

One project we are steering towards is the Wildside project: born on rugged land, the Wildside project will require some initiative and creative thinking! Someone who has lots of experience and who would like to manage a project developing land, building flat platforms for yurts, restoring an abandoned house by turning it into a Yoga studio, and generally doing the labour to get the site freshened up to be inhabited for community events, theatre workshops, and more! This project is indeed grandiose, but the candidate will have plenty of help and support, and will not be expected to do the project by themselves. Applications from keen candidates are encouraged!
