Description
We are Sarah, Marco and our sons Jakob and Lorenz (born in March 2018 and March 2020). 2018 we moved to a house 40km south of Vienna. We have a big garden and created a little familly farm here.
We have lots of projects going on, during the summer most of them in the garden - e.g. preparing new beds, painting the wooden fence, building bee houses, building a shed to store our tools or the daily maintainance work that has to be done in a garden.
Actual Projects:
- cut firewood
- build a new shed and an outdoor shower
- sieving soil and compost
- gardening in general - there is always work to do :-)
and many more...
Additionally, we have winter time and bad weather (by means of rainy or too hot/cold) projects in the house: e.g. wood works in our workshop and renovating some rooms, little cleaning tasks, food canning and preservation, taking care of the kids (only if you are willing to do so).
We planted many fruit trees and berry bushes and have a big vegetable garden. We have cats, chicken and bees, ducks as well as quails.
Some days we have to go to work during the week but mostly one of us is around as we are both able to work from home. Most tasks needs to be done during the weekend or on weekdays in the afternoon/early evening.Types of help and learning opportunities

We have many guests via warmshowers (a community to host cyclists) and love to meet other people from different countries. We travelled a lot and did a big trip by bike through Canada, the US, New Zealand and Europe. Now we settled down and enjoy having guests. So many stories to share.
We are from Germany but we are familiar with Austrian traditions too :-)Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
mainly garden tasks, e.g. preparing new beds, planting trees, painting the fence..., but also some help in the house, e.g. renovating different rooms, tiling floors, woodworks, preservation of fruits and vegetables from the garden or weekly cleaning.
We are appreciative of any help in any of the aforementioned tasks. It would be great if you are organised, have initiative and have some experience in this field.
Anyone staying at our home needs to have the motivation to complete work to a satisfactory standard! And to be genuinely committed to helping us by doing what we need properly.
Please be aware that we have two kids already so we expect you to rather self-reliant and reliable! We don't need more kids to take care of ;-)Languages

You will have your own room and can use our big bathroom or an own little bathroom in the basement if you prefer to have a private bathroom.
We have a nice kitchen where we love to cook and share the meals with you.
And of course the living room can be used by our guest any time.
But please be aware: you don't live in a hotel! We expect without explicitly telling you that you help preparing meals, getting the table ready or put the things in the dishwasher during your stay...as a matter of course.
When you see a dirty spot feel free to clean it - you don't have to wait for us to tell you things that need to be done obviously. :-)
And what we don't like are smartphone-addicted people. Our meals are smartphone-free.... we have little children and don't want him to see smartphones all the time...we live the real life! ;-)
We have two cats, so please be aware in case you are allergic to animal hair! What else ...
You can easily get to Vienna with public transport. There are also many things to do in the area, nice lakes as well as the mountains are not far from here and easy to reach by car and some even by train. You can use one of our bicycles during your stay to get to the train station or to explore the area.
We have a piano you can play if you like.
We have some house-rules or call it a philosophy of living - nothing super strict but things that are important for us, like switching off the lights when leaving a room, saving water and energy in general (as we have to pay for all the ressources we use!), helping to get the table ready and clean up after meals and having the meals together and no permanent use of a smartphone - it should all be things that are not extraordinary but our experience showed us that we have to say it....
Volunteers need to be non-smokers and not to young. Our apologies in advance to young people who we are sure have lots to offer.
If you want to use the time off we have two chimneys (indoor for the winter and outdoor for the summer), a huge party room with a pool table, some bikes you can use to explore the area, mountains to hike close by - we try to be very active and can take you with us.A little more information

Hope to see you again in spring!!
All the best,
Sarah, Marco, Jakob & Lorenz!
They always asked fot new task and were anxious to do so. They really glue together so it was sometimes very difficult to give them separate tasks. There workaway profile gives an impression about there skills and knowledge they should reconsider.
Victor was very diligent with every task we gave to him. He was really into our kids - they loved him ;-) Maria helped us overcoming the language difficulties with Victor and struggled a bit with the unexpected cold temperature in Austria. We wish you all the best.
We stayed 10 days with them and their two sons, Jakob & Lorenz, really easy going kids! You won't get bored at their place as there is a lot to do for motivated people! We could experience gardening, construction, wood chopping, baby-sitting. We could enjoy… read more
