  • Description

    Description

Green-field food forest in County Down, Northern Ireland overlooking Strangford Lough a protected area of outstanding natural beauty. 3 ha of farm land surrounding a stone cottage under restoration being converted to food forest. Working with local specialist and globally renowned wild food forager on design.

Update 20 Nov: we have just purchased 2000 trees which will arrive in February. Untill then the focus will be sorting out the existing farmhouse (internal painting, decorating and taking care) and working on the stone cottage (outdoor work mainly with stone and lime mortar though some carpentry too). I can accommodate 1 or 2 or even a small family from around Dec 12th.

You will imerse yourself in a large food forest project from its inception and learn and practice the skills required to restore a traditional irish stone cottage dating from the early 1800s. The area is pristine with breathtaking views of Strangford Lough and astounding sunsets.

The existing farmhouse is very spacious and comfortable. With its astonishing view it is quite luxurious.

Within the surrounding area are many of the Game of Thrones site and many National Trust trails (land and sea). Portaferry town is quaint with welcoming pubs and great Guinness. Good food and hospitality can be found in the village if you want to go out. Belfast is a 1hour bus ride away. I take regular trips to Dublin also too so you can visit there potentially also.
