    Description

The main objective of the project is to inspire a sustainable, conscious and joyful life with/in nature, while learning from each other and preserving a beautiful piece of land in the Sierra Nevada, 20min walking from Minca.
My name is Izabela, I am from Europe, 37 years old and I founded this little project January 2017, as sub project of an organic/vegetarian Finca dedicated to sustainability.
The aim is to practice and experiment with sustainable construction, landscaping and handicrafts, offering playful workshops and activities for our regional community but also for travelers...and in future also for children, based on Forest School principles.
...trying to be the change I want to see in the world...with the lovely extra challenge to work and live without electricity, only using manual tools.

Following the Permacultural principles, we apply bio construction techniques using, reusing and recycling local and natural resources very consciously. Always motivated to experiment and find new solutions and create a space as an inspirational - collaborative exhibition.
Passionate about clay, bamboo structures, bicycle machines, experiments, music instruments, tools, toys, handicrafts, animals...trees...waterstreams.. bonefires and magic sunsets, being early birds, sleeping in hammocks or tents, loving the bush crafty outdoor life in the middle of the magic Sierra.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

As our focus is to fuse the best elements of traditional, conventional and innovative building techniques, we collaborate with people from different professions and cultures, as well as locals and our indigenous friends from the wiwa tribe, all learning from each other! :-)

    Help

We are looking for volunteers who want to join our little playful project, being creative together and enjoying the peace and sounds of nature with stunning sunsets and sea view, surrounded by the sierras amazing flora and fauna.
Between January and May we are mainly working on the preparation and organization of our monthly bio construction workshops and events, paralel fixing and building creative roofing for the next rain season...building furniture out of pallets, clearing paths and camp zones from the very fast growing grass, upgrade of showers and compost toilet, lots of nice clay work, taking care of the garden, compost, artesanal activities, research and building of brain stimulation games&toys&instruments ...making fruit juices on our bicycle blender with sea view and much more! :-)

During the 1 -3days workshops, it is crucial to be a flexible and creative problem solver, with lovely communication skills :-), you have the possibility to participate the classes between your shifts. But don't worry if you miss a part. We will take time enough to explain and teach everything you want to learn during the preparations and/or after the workshop.

    Basically:
Volunteers should enjoy outdoor life and be prepared for diverse, but also physical work, as we live in the middle of the beautiful sierra were walking up and down is part of our life.
Sometimes we will work and enjoy together as a team (between 2 and 5 people), but you also will have the opportunity to work independent on tasks, depending on your interests and skills. Also sometimes volunteers have to organize themselves on site when I am not there due to weekly food/material shopping in St. Marta or computer work in village.
Experience in Permaculture, natural building or any other environmental sustainable technique is very welcome but not necessary. You will learn a lot here! :-)
Skills in construction, carpentry, handicrafts, recycling or gardening very appreciated!
Medium spanish level required, as we collaborate sometimes with locals and indigenous people, so communication is crucial.

And please consider that we don't have electricity and love it!
Anyways Minca is just 20min walking distance, so easy to charge batteries and connect to wifi there ;-)
