I had such a beautiful time in Rome staying with Marinella, Giancarlo and Filippo. They're all very kind, positive and gentle people! I stayed for 2 and a half weeks and immediately felt welcomed into their home. They showed me places near their home such as the beach and pine woods and also gave me great recommendations for museums/basilicas and

It was so nice to walk their dogs Maya and Zode too, and explore with them both. Maya is excitable but harmless and Zode too, a very caring dog. I enjoyed gardening on mornings with them pottering beside me!
The jobs assigned were very clear and simple- I cut grass, swept leaves, painted an outdoor table set and helped prepare salad sometimes! I started in the morning and had the afternoon to rest or explore, as well as weekends.
Giancarlo and Marinella made 3 meals a day for me and I often set the table. Their cooking is very inspiring, very fresh and delicious and I’ve continued to cook some of their dishes since returning from my travels!
I highly recommend working for this very kind family if you’re considering travelling to Italy! It was my first work away and very special indeed.
Thank you all again and wishing you the best!

Immersed in the vibrant culture of Rome, I had an immense privilege of staying with the Marinella family during my workaway experience. Marinella's captivating discussions on culture and life enriched my understanding of Italian life, while a painting workshop unleashed my inner artist. Sharing Moroccan dishes and mint tea in their kitchen

Morning conversations with Giancarlo sparked a newfound interest in history and philosophy. The playful presence of Zody and Maya, the family's beloved dogs, added joy to my mornings, especially Maya, whose playful nature was infectious.
I'm deeply grateful to the Marinella family for their warmth and hospitality, which made my stay unforgettable. Their commitment to cultural exchange through workaway is commendable. Grazie mille for the cherished memories and the unique experience.

My stay here was marvelous. Marinella and Giancarlo are so welcoming, they made sure I was comfortable and gave me amazing recommendations on the days I was touring the city; they also took me to some places on the other days. Regarding the volunteering tasks, it's very well described. I was helping with the dogs, the garden and with some cooking; everything was rather a pleasure for me to help with. Overall, they made me feel part of their family. If you're looking to discovering Rome while living with a Roman family that are incredible human beings, I'd say reach out to them!Feedback

I spent 2 weeks in the house of the family Contaldi-Gentile during winter 2024. It was a very pleasant experience, every member of the family will make you feel at home and will be interested in getting to know you and hear about your adventure stories. Marinella, Giancarlo, Gioele and Filippo are super friendly, you can literally talk with them
… read more about everything, they are indeed a very open-minded family. Make sure to like cooking because in this house you'll learn how to prepare delicious stuff. Besides helping in the kitchen you'll be asked to take Maya and Zodi for a walk, do some gardening and housekeeping. Overall my time there was lovely and beautiful, thanks for all your love 💕You can only contact Workawayers who have an active membership.

In short, my experience here was phenomenal. I couldn't have asked for a better family to live with. The tasks they have you do are not too much and give you plenty of time to explore and wander around. The dogs are friendly and easy to love.
I unfortunately got a sick while I was staying and they were very understanding and allowed me to rest

In the month that I stayed at Marinella’s, Giancarlo’s and Filippo’s place they were very kind. They took me with them to every aktiv they did walking on the beach/pine woods, going hiking or showing me Rome. The dogs maya and sody are very sweet and always what some caduls. Walking them is a bit difficult because they pull a lot on the leash.
