    Description

We are Gary and Erika a retired married couple living in South America Ecuador. We moved here from the USA about 8 years ago and we are loving it. We would like to invite you to join our family, stay with us, help us get the work done around the house, eat well and have great conversations. We have 5 friendly furry friends to fall in love with, Argus the Doberman, Maxine the Labrador mix, Missy our medium size mix doggy, Buttercup a 7 years old blonde doggy and Mr. Tiny who looks like a miniature fox. All of the 5 dogs are super friendly. Our beautiful place is high up in the Andes Mountains at 2600 meters (8500 feet) with comfortable temperatures. We have a small independent guest cabin that we would like to offer for the person / persons to stay in. It has everything, bed, kitchen appliances, bathroom, with hot water and internet. We are looking for someone who wishes to work about 4 days a week and maybe travel the rest of the week. Our guest cabin can be your home-base while you exploring this beautiful South American country.

We live in an isolated small indigenous community here in the mountains, we are about a 10-15 taxi ride from the highway where local buses commute to nearby and far away cities. A taxi ride from our house costs $3 to the highway. The nearest small town is called Paute in the state of Azuay and the next biggest city is called Cuenca with beautiful old-town-feel streets and architecture.

This year sometimes we have power outage due to lack of rain in Ecuador. People say they didn't have a draught since 60 years. This one will pass too but right now we have two hours of power outage every day nationwide.
