    Description

Hola from Costa Rica! 👋🙂🌴 My name is Nick. A love of nature, a healthy lifestyle, and good relationships with good people—that's how I live in Manuel Antonio.
The property includes my small house and a larger house where tourists and travelers stay. These are typical local houses in a typical Tico neighborhood. The environment here feels more like a village than a city, but there are also large houses nearby. A bus stop, cafes, supermarkets, and restaurants are within a couple of minutes' walk. A semi-professional soccer field with free access is practically connected to the property. (Check out this location on Google Maps.)
This place will appeal to nature and sports lovers who aren't looking for city comforts.
The houses are located on the edge of tropical vegetation, near a national park, and are literally surrounded by local flora and fauna. So, around the house, and sometimes even inside, you can see monkeys, sloths, opossums, armadillos, agoutis, anteaters, honey badgers, deer, lizards, parrots, hummingbirds, butterflies, and a host of other native animals, birds, and insects. There's also a chicken (🐔) that would appreciate your attention.
Around the house are banana and coconut palms, bamboo thickets, mango and avocado trees, and other tropical plants. Welcome to the jungle!
‼️ If you are very sensitive, if encountering cockroaches, spiders, or mosquitoes, or if the minimalist, rustic lifestyle, or, for example, garbage collection, would shock you, then it's best not to visit. Also, you shouldn't visit if you smoke or use drugs.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

I am from Russia and I will be happy to introduce you to my culture and Russian cuisine.
My neighbors are locals in their typical houses and being here you can immediately immerse yourself in typical Costa Rican life as it is and see how everything is arranged here. The people here are friendly and always ready to help you learn Spanish. Also, tourists from all over the world will come to this place and communicate with them and improve your communication skills, you should also be interested.
While here, you will see many different wild animals, insects, reptiles and amphibians, as the house is located on the edge of the National Park. You can study the local tropical plants and animals, of which there are countless.

    Help

If you have any of the skills I listed below and feel you have the strength and ability to help and be useful, or you have ideas that I have missed, then you can safely come. And feel free to write me a message and ask any question, as I try not to leave messages unanswered.
    Ok, let's go! )
    1) Art projects. The tourist house has white walls and I am looking for an artist who will draw realistic drawings of local animals on a white background. I also need to draw three monkey heads on the sign.
    2) Design and decoration of the interior and the space around the house. There is always something that can be improved. New ideas and a fresh look - this is what you can help with.
    3) Gardening, plant care. The house has its own territory with small thickets of banana palms, ginger and bamboo, with large trees, with a slope on which fallen leaves accumulate, with grass that needs to be trimmed, etc. The territory requires improvement and should look well-groomed. You can bring plants from the jungle and surround the house with them, make flower beds in front of the windows, improve existing plants, etc.
    4) Permaculture. You must understand this process. I have my own territory and my plan is to grow vegetables here. It is empty for now, but you can make beds of various types with an irrigation system. I have experience in maintaining an urban farm, I will be happy to help.
    5) Tree Climbing. If you have experience and equipment, then there are several large trees on my territory, the crown of which I would like to study and make a small base there for lovers of this hobby, since various types of monkeys and birds constantly hang out on these trees and it would be great to watch them in close proximity. I have a climbing system and the desire to do this. You can spend the night in a hammock at the root of the trees.
    6) Caring for the only chicken Galina 🐔 This chicken appeared to me by accident and she has a difficult fate. I had no experience in poultry farming and I am not too focused on it. I gave her the minimum but I think she needs more.
    🌴🌴🌴
And I invite a volunteers, because I am sure, that cultural exchange, skill exchange and communication practice, in collaboration with WorkAway, will make my project brighter and more interesting ‼️However, that this place is not a school for people with no skills.
And I expect daily return from the volunteer, since I have already provided everything necessary for life here and will pay for your room, internet, gas, water, electricity, every day too. I would like to see a person here who will keep the common space of the house and the place where he will live clean and tidy and will do it not for me, but for himself, first of all, and will not consider it work, but will simply have such a lifestyle - to live in cleanliness. The exception may be really talented artists who are completely passionate about specific projects.
Of course, you will receive instructions, but you should not always wait for instructions and tips from me and stop when instructions do not come. I would like you to take the initiative in your work and offer help yourself if I am busy and do not think about what you need to do.
And I would like you to find an answer to the question at the end of each day: what benefit have I brought to this place today?
As for the working hours, of course, this will not be a soulless contract with clear boundaries set by WorkAway (5 hours a day + 2 days off) and in each specific case the time of assistance, conditions of stay and days off will be agreed upon individually and will depend on the quality and type of assistance. I do not offer food, but this issue can also be discussed. And you will always have my support, participation and help in everything.

    Accommodation

Basically you get a room with a bunk bed in my two-room house. Theoretically, another volunteer could use that room, but it's empty right now. I can go there too, because I have some of my stuff there, but I can make it private if that's really important to you. I have other rooms that are sometimes available. So there are other options for living. You can hang out in the house, on the grounds, or in a hammock in the garden, cook in the kitchen, use the shower and toilet, the washing machine, the fridge, and everything else in the house.

    What else ...

The ocean is nearby, within walking distance or 5-10 minutes by local bus. The bus stop is 250 meters from the house.
You can go to the beach, go hiking, explore the area or develop your own tourist route for tourists and earn some money. The house also has a slightly battered surfboard, snorkeling gear and other useful things that you can use for free if you are responsible and careful.
You can do any sport and jog on the football field with free entry and it is very close.
Also from me you will receive information and recommendations about possible options for recreation and interesting places around.
