    Description

We are a family of five, including three boys aged 4, 8 and 9. We live in a house on Bowen Island, British Columbia, which is a 20 minute ferry ride from the Greater Vancouver area. Our island has 4,000 people, several restaurants, bakeries, pharmacy and more, but also large parks for excellent hiking. We are a two minute walk to the ocean. Our children are in school or daycare, and live sports and keeping busy.

Peter (Dad) speaks English, French and Dutch). The main language used is English. We love to garden. We love walks or bike rides in nearby Crippen Park. We love to swim in the 23c ocean in July to September title in our community pool. We take the ferry occasionally to do errands or go on a small road trip. The kids play soccer, baseball and running, as well as some piano. We love animals and wildlife! We have five chickens for fresh eggs. We hope our children can practice languages, reading and learning about new places.

You can eat with the family and get to know the boys as suits you, and in a manner consistent with Workaway principles. It would be great if you could cook one meal a week and or do the dishes twice or three times a week.

    Help

We are looking for someone who likes children and can help us entertain them after they attend school. Some assistance around the home will make it easier and fun for us! You will also have ample opportunities to explore in your own or with others, on the island or in nearby Vancouver or the coastal mountains.

Public transit is easy: we have shuttle bus on the island or you can borrow a bike. We are a 5 minute walk to Snug Cove, the local town with stores, pubs and restaurants. We are 7 minute walk to the ferry that runs from 5:15 am to 11 pm, approximately every hour. The ferry goes to Horseshoe Bay on the BC mainland, where you can catch an express city bus to downtown Vancouver + then change to metro direct to the Vancouver airport. Whistler is a 1.5 hour drive from Horseshoe Bay.
