Description
We're a hostel located in the heart of the Historic Center in Mexico City in a building with bones more than 100 years old. We have an outdoor terrace and rooftop bar with an amazing view of the city’s skyline that will leave you speechless. We are fully equipped with a kitchen, different living areas, such as a co-working zone as well as chill zones to rest up and watch TV. Our rooms have pod-like beds, each coming with electrical outlets, a curtain for privacy and a locker to store your belongings.
We are in a perfect location. The area is characterized by its lively diversity and variety of businesses, restaurants, bars, grocery stores, cafes, pharmacies and many craft stores.
Additionally, when staying here you are:
- 3 blocks away from the Zócalo and Catedral Metropolitana de la Ciudad de México
- 5 minute walk from one of the most famous pedestrian streets in Mexico City, Avenida Madero, where you will find a variety of shops and restaurants
- 15 minute walk from Palacio de Bellas Artes and the beautiful park Alameda Central
- 1 block away from Mexico City bike station where you can rent a bike to better see the city
Our number one goal is to create a welcoming atmosphere where people socialize, everyone has a good time. We aim to be the home away from home for the many travellers that stay with us. To do this, we not only consistently offer a high standard of hospitality but also offer a variety of day and night activities to get to know the area better.
What we are looking for: travellers who are skilled in interacting and communicating with others, able to be consistently be outgoing and friendly, and with previous hospitality/customer service experience. Additionally, a proficient level of English and ideally Spanish is required in order to fully communicate with guests and staff.
Your task whilst volunteering here: helping out in either reception or running activities for guests, essentially help us to be the soul of Apapacho. Some of our exciting activities that you can take part in (for free!) include Lucha Libre, a Xochimilco boat tour, visiting archaeological sites and many more! Volunteer shifts are from 3-5 hours per shift and you will have 4-5 shifts a week.
Please note the minimum stay is 4 weeks and the maximum is 12 weeks.Types of help and learning opportunities

Help
We always aim to have a team who are easy-going, sociable, and friendly who can help us with reception, socialize with our guests and get them involved in our activities.
We offer activities during the day and the evenings which we would love you to get involved with and help you explore Mexico City in the process and get to know the local culture.
Although we have local staff that do the cleaning and maintenance, we do expect you to be aware of your new home, cleaning after yourself ( just like all the guests do) and keeping the common areas organized.Languages spoken

Working here was one of the best experiences I’ve had while travelling! The people running the hostel are impossible not to love, and the same goes for all the many volunteers I got to work with.
