    Description

I am a young retired professor living half-time in the countryside with two lovely cats. I practice art on a regular basis and could teach you if you like.

I am an excellent cook so we can eat/cook together and share experiences. I like healthy food, a lot of vegetables and fruits in season, and prioritize buying "local" at the farms around. I also indulge in BBQ.

My country house (Ulverton, Qc) is divided into two main parts with a semi-private section available for you (all equipped with a kitchen and toilet with shower) and a large bedroom for the workaway at the mezzanine level.

I am willing to give art workshops (watercolor, collage, etc.) in the gallery section of my country house and a dedicated space in my Montreal house. As for the countryside, there is a Cultural Center in the nearby city of Richmond (Qc) with live shows in the Fall and Winter seasons. There is also a nautical park where you can rent canoes and kayaks and have a nice ride on the Saint-François River. There is also a farmer's market with local cheese, meat, bread, and pastries every Saturday morning running from May to October. Le "Moulin à Laine" is a beautiful patrimonial site where you can hike along the Ulverton River.

    Help

Spring and Summer are a good time to clean the flower gardens (a lot of weeding) and do different projects in and out of my house. Some tasks demand physical strength and the use of tools. Last year I had an 18-year-old man from Germany who was excellent and fun. I used to match him with a local male worker on some jobs. This could maybe be arranged for you. My housekeeper is a very physical woman and could also help on demand.
I attend art classes in Montreal and must stay in my Montreal house during these days (and avoid too many round trips in the same week). My country house (Ulverton) is 120km from Montreal. I also have a gardening project on the front and backyard of my Montreal (Outremont) house. So there is a joint possibility for you also to help in Montreal. Again, this is a physical task. My Montreal housekeeper is also a strong woman who can allow a few hours once a week (generally on Wednesdays).
Both houses are charming with a lot of greens around. Because of my busy schedule, I am not asking for more than 4 days and 3-5 hours a day under my supervision. So you could enjoy your free time or continue your job with or without my supervision (but possibly help from locals).
I will be glad to coach you in your artistic projects, I am very well installed to practice art in both houses and could share with you some art material.

Let me know if it is convenient for you and feel free to ask me for more information.

Country house in Ulverton (Canton de l'Est): one large bedroom (mezzanine level), kitchenette, private toilet, launderette. The huge "gallery" section (first level) can be shared for art workshops and your cooking.
City house in Montreal: My principal house is located in Outremont one of the greenest parts of Montreal with many parks, a tennis court, a public pool, a movie theater, many restaurants and cafés, and all accommodation. I have a bedroom for you with a TV set and internet (Netflix, Prime video).

Depending on the tasks and weather conditions, we may travel back and forth together by car from my country house to my Montreal house. I am flexible and can accommodate easily upon an agreement between us.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

I have one 10-speed bicycle and one electric bicycle (Solex) available for you in my country house. You can rent canoes and kayaks at Nautical Park (Richmond, Qc, 7km). You can go swimming in a lake (Kingsbury, 15 km). I have a pool with salted and heated water and a terrasse that we can share. Horse riding by the Saint-Francois River is offered (at your own expense) nearby at Pegasus Farm. You can take a 40km round-trip bike path at the nearby village of Richmond.

Pharmacy, food stores, restaurants, "brasserie", and cafés, are all available in Richmond.

For more autonomy, you may consider renting a car during your free time to discover the surroundings (Quebec City is 100 km from Ulverton) or shop in Sherbrooke (45 km from Ulverton). There are no shops in Ulverton, the closest place to shop is Richmond (7km).
