We are a non-profit focused on art, history and sustainability, located on an old family homestead in downeast Maine. The land was once a thriving quarry site providing granite for the cobblestone industry that would be shipped away on wooden ships in the 1800's. We strive to help create connections to both the natural world and the historic uses of the land. We also operate a public gallery and sculpture garden. We function by form and design of integrating standard business models with expansive and creative community involvement. We host various events throughout the year including planting parties, mushroom inoculations, feasts, and art openings. We also bring people together to build new structures and learn new skills.
When you stay here there are great opportunities to reconnect with nature. There are many learning, recreation, and self development opportunities here to get hands-on experience with. You could spend your free time biking, hiking, boating, alternative building, cooking or learning about how to power a truck with vegetable oil . There is a pristine quarry pool for swimming and paddle boarding.
We are looking forward to sharing this place with like minded folks.
