Welcome to our land.
The borders are open again!! So be welcome to our land.
This year we haven’t had any volunteers yet, because off the covid-19 and the closed borders.
We can really need some help. Our land is just to big for the 2 off us!!
If there are any male volunteers..... be welcome too!!!
We are Ton and Annemieke, a Dutch couple. We're travellers, but bought a piece off land (7 Hectares) in Portugal, the end of july 2018.
We will live here in our truck, when we don't travel. At the moment we don't have much facilities. We' made a compost toilet . We go to the village to get water. Have a primitief outdoor shower. We have a caravan, a tent, a tipi (not always available) and a little indoor space with woodstove. You are welcome with your own campervan. In the winter months we only can have people with their own van, because we don’t have accommodation. There is space enough to find a nice spot in our valley. In the future we want to create off-grid camper spaces for adventurous travellers.
We're easy going. Love to create things and love to live outside in nature.
Annemieke is vegetarian, Ton eats meat so now and than. Vegans are welcome too.
We have a dog, Lotte., and since November 2018 a little puppy who just came to our land, hungry and lost. We called him Paco and we didn't find a new home for him, so he can stay. It's a funny little dog, he has no problems with other dogs. Lotte is doing well with other dog's too, except dominant female dogs. You can bring your own dog. Since January 2019 we have a third dog, also a lost one who came to our property. Hungry and in bad condition. He has leishmania. After a crowdfunding we start to give him the right medications. He is a big sweet dog. Loves female dogs! He lives outside on our property.
Since April 2019 we do have chickens too.
We want to create a food Forrest. The first winter we found out that it's too cold for many trees in our valley, we hope that some trees will survive! We have made a few vegetable gardens on different levels. Lots off work in the gardens.
Together with workaways we made a outdoor kitchen. And we’ve done lots off other work together with them. Still small projects to realize.
We have about 180 olive trees. We have been harvesting them; great to do! Welcome in November/December to join us!!
Other work is to clean the land. It hasn't been used for many years, so many treasures are overgrown.
This year (2020) we will start building our basic wooden house. If you have building skills, you’re welcome! Or if you want to learn and help us, welcome too. We also bought a yurt. We need to make a platform for it, a outdoor shower and little kitchen. Just another project!! We also need to make another compost toilet in the valley.
Our land is about 3 km to the nearest village, 20 minutes north of Castelo Branco, 1 hour from the highest mountain in Portugal. We have a car and can show you around.
So, as you can read, we don't have much to offer, but you can be sure; we're very nice company :-)

Help with Eco project
We can learn you a lot about gardening. We like to do things together.
We can show you around in the area, visit the highest mountain, or go swimming in the lake, 5 minutes from here. So long as our river is running you can bath under the waterfall (if you like cold water!) You can go on a bike (we have 2) or motorbike (we have 1) and hiking, or have a walk with the dogs. Or just be lazy in a hammock.
We will provide 3 meals a day. Mostly vegetarian, sometimes we have meat. If you have a diet, please let us know, so we can see if we can offer that.
We don't have wifi, but their is a good 4G signal and you can use our hotspot.
You don't need to have any skills, but it's nice when you're interested in gardening, olive harvest or creating a food forrest. And if you like to build and create things out off nothing!
If you are a builder, you are more than welcome!
We have a small retro caravan, a tent (and if it’s not rented out, a tipi). You can use the outdoor kitchen.
In the Winter we only can have people with their own camper van.
Local transport is 3 km's away. There are a few city's nearby (30 minutes) There is a lake 5 minutes(by car) 20 minutes walking from here where you can swim, fish or take the canoe .
