Hello Wonderful Workaway Volunteers,
We are really interested in finding a long term volunteer and want to mention this right away in case you might be looking for a long term opportunity! We also accept people for a stay of a one-month minimum. We are a small project that is just starting up at a grassroots level which looks forward to offering young adults and teens from the ages of 18 to 24 the opportunity to live in a guided atmosphere to learn healthy and constructive ways of living, as some of the young men may have had troubles at home with addiction or mental health issues and are looking for better ways to learn to live well and thrive. We are based about an hour from San Vito, Costa Rica, in a small town in the mountains.
We have just moved onto some land where there has been a reforestation project happening for the past 7 years and are in the process of fixing up the place and combining working on the land and helping the youth who have been or are at risk. We are looking for volunteers to come to spend time with our first two young adults who are both 21 years old. We can use your help to facilitate mentoring and offering guidance using Non-Violent Communication skills, which we are happy to train you in if you are interested, natural healing modalities with plant medicines and an opportunity to practice dragon dreaming to build our project and community.
We offer mostly vegan and vegetarian meals and enjoy cooking and eating together, along with offering genuine heartfelt friendship and guidance.
We have a room in a house that has just been built that sleeps two volunteers and has Wifi. We have other structures that we are working on building using natural building methods.
We enjoy bathing in the river and drink fresh spring water, the conditions are a bit rustic at the moment but together we are making improvements all the time and are working in unison in our small community to make the living conditions better and build the project up, as we have a clear vision on the land.
There are good vibes, music and camp fires, we enjoy working but like a a light-hearted enviorment and of course to have fun too!
Skills that could be helpful are bio-construction, composting, cooking, art therapy, music, mental health experience, permaculture, but not to worry if you dont have any of these skills, we are here to empower one another and share the gifts we have and often it is the young people that we are there to help guide with simply being present that we will find are helping us out and offering us many unexpected gifts in return!
If you want to know more about this amazing opportunity to make a BIG difference in the life of a couple of young people who are in need, please contact us right away!
For those that like to help others out and offer service, and dont mind living simply in nature then this is a heart-based project that welcomes you.
We would really like to find a long term volunteer for our project, so let us know if you might want to stay long term.

The young adults that we are currently working with speak fluent Spanish and one speaks English and can help you improve your Spanish or English speaking skills if you ask them questions. You will have access to healthy food that is vegan or vegetarian. We have a nice waterfall nearby within an hours hike, and many trails if you like to hike. Local buses are within walking distance of 15 minutes from the house. We are located in a local neighborhood near a small town about an hour by bus from San Vito.

We ask for 4 or 5 hours a day 6 days a week, and the hours can be flexible. You will have a room in a house that you will share with one other volunteer or it may be private, it will depend on if we have two volunteers at the time or not, you would be working as a mentor, guide-big brother-sister type situation and working on the land guiding the young adults that are living at the project.
There is an opportunity for a long-term stay if the situation is working out well, but a minimum of a month to start is helpful. Although some of the young men may be trying to quit smoking and are smoking in a designated area, we prefer volunteers that are free from smoking cigarettes or using alcohol or drugs while staying at our place, we are a 420 friendly atmosphere. The emphasis is on healing for all involved in the house.
