Hi, Hola, Privet, Bon Jour, Namaskar!
My name is Nikolai, I live in the world as a digital nomad and handyman, and Estonia is my base country.
I would be glad to cut your firewood, tame your overgrown shrubs, build your sundeck, or paint your roof. Good mood and funny stories come as a bonus.
My story
Some time ago I was a freelance translator and interpreter and my life used to revolve around a computer desk or a conference room. Then I changed my priorities and now I enjoy travelling and WorkAwaying, doing a variety of work and a bit of translation on the way to earn my next ticket.
My skills
I really enjoy an active lifestyle, manual labor, learning, languages, housekeeping, travelling and reading. In addition to reasonable computer literacy, I also have some experience in construction (especially carpentry and electrical installation), gardening and forestry.
So, I am good with power and hand tools, including chainsaws, all kinds of cutters and trimmers, and I paint walls and fell trees.
In 2024 I finished my two-year training as a caregiver and I was working in an elderly home as I studied, meaning, I know basic paramedical procedures and taking care of ill and elderly people. I measure blood pressure, make injections and give relaxing massage.
In fact, I do everything I put my eager mind to, and if I do not have the skill, I do my best to learn it. I am easy-going, very clear with my goals and the ways to achieve them, pay attention to details and appreciate a good joke. I am able to work on my own (as long as you set the task and provide resources (tools / materials) or as an efficient and loyal team player.
I like people, respect animals, and prefer learning to teaching. Usually, I offer to stay and work for one month with a host, though the co-operation can be extended if it works for both of us. I also offer a first week trial as a way to see whether it works and if not, both the host and I can say "thank you, goodbye" without any bad feelings or ruining plans.
Practical information:
- I am a citizen of Estonia (EU), so I do not need visa to visit many countries or work in EU.
- I am omnivorous, no allergies.
- I am “early to bed – early to rise”.
- I am fully COVID vaccinated.
- And yes, I need a shower at least once a day.

- Care of patients or elderly people: wash, feed, diapers, basic nursing procedures.
- Catering: chef's assistant, dishwasher, waiter.
