Guilhem was very helpful. He always wants to know the details of a task to make sure he does it well and he always delivers! I left the house and when I came back I learned the chainsaw had broken down (not his fault absolutely) and I saw he had found another way to finish the task. He is smart and brilliant, he finds ways to do the tasks given to him. He is also nice to talk to, because he knows a lot and has his opinions about things. He is also open minded to understand other peoples' views. Fun to play board games with, he is also great around kids. Thank you for coming, talking about France, helping us. We would love to visist France and have you as a guide for us!

Flawie is such a kind person to be around. She is easy going, and you can relax in your own space, while she is with you. She helps out with everything you ask her for, and even takes corrections on her without starting to discuss. She writes she is open to learning new things and I can only say she is right. She learned a lot about practical skills but was also very open to exploring and seeing the day. I recommend Flawie to anyone:-)

La experiencia con Felipe y Valeria fue increible, a pesar de ser su primer voluntariado la tenían muy clara, muy trabajadores, creativos y dispuestos en todo momento a colaborar y adaptarse a cambios de última hora, nos ayudaron bastante a terminar y decorar unas cabañas que estábamos construyendo, también nos hicieron varias sugerencias para mejorar cosas en el Refugio, personas tranquilas y de muy buen humor, conversadores y con conocimientos en muchas cosas que aportan bastante, estábamos tan contentos con su voluntariado que les sugerimos que se quedaran mas tiempo. Gracias chichos por todo! les deseamos un muy buen resto de viaje!...

We were so fortunate to host Ava for a couple weeks. She has an admirable zest for life and lives with style. During her visit she built a rock bridge across the creek, helped extensively with trail work, painted a record for the music room, cooked or helped cook many meals, and we had to tear her away from the dishes from time to time. Ava is self-motivated and always goes above and beyond any expectations. We sincerely hope she finds her way back in the future!

I was only able to be at Sophie and Carlo’s for one week, but it was a week I’ll never forget and an amazing Workaway experience. Their land is stunning: there’s a river for swimming & relaxing beside, one of the most beautiful trees I’ve ever seen, the maximum amount of sunny daylight as earthly possible, and a wide open spaces that provide a peace I haven’t encountered anywhere. Sophie & Carlo themselves are incredibly kind, generous, thoughtful, and fun hosts! They’ve been in the guest role at other projects so they are oriented to making sure Workawayers are comfortable and enjoying their time. In the short time I was with them in Parí, I was invited to join a community dinner where I met others with land projects in the area, we had a beach day, I was provided a bike to visit the nearby hot springs as often as I wanted, and I got to join in some wine bottling that happened to be taking place. So the experiences were abundant in only 6 days and that was due to conscious effort & care by Sophie/Carlo!! I think this is an ideal Workaway for folks who really enjoy quiet time in nature and off grid living. I didn’t have much cell service but I think it was the carrier I had (WindTre) so ask Sophie/Carlo which carriers are best or use an ESIM that can find the best network. The lack of electricity & running water in the accommodation was different than my other experiences so that added a few extra steps to daily living but I didn’t mind it, and I know Sophie/Carlo plan to add those amenities in the future. I couldn’t recommend these hosts enough :)

[ 2 mois - mars / avril 2026] Une pépite de coloc’ ! Cet endroit compte beaucoup de mes meilleurs souvenirs du Québec : des humains magnifiques, qui manient l’art de vivre ensemble avec expérience et sagesse, de la bonne humeur et de la convivialité, une grande maison très vivante et assez extraordinaire, des paysages et de la nature super sympas tout autour ... J’ai adoré les activités que l’on a pu partager (qui, faites ensemble devenaient vraiment fun). Fabrication de kimchi, taille au verger, entretien et récolte à l’érablière, pêche et cuisine de myes (les coques locales !), fabrication d’un jeu de société en bois (avec le soutien d’Iko) ... entrecoupées de randonnées enneigées, de karaokés ou autres sessions musicales, de jeux de société, de réunions de qualité, de party de sucre collantes et joyeuses (merci Loulou !), et de party tout court, de bons repas préparés avec amour et générosité ... Séjourner ici m’a permis de rencontrer tellement de jolies personnes et amis, de plonger dans la vie québécoise en si peu de temps. Le réseau est si vaste et renommé que c'était un appui solide et précieux pour nombre de mes autres expériences et voyages par la suite, que ce soit à Kamouraska, aux Iles de la Madeleine ou autres. Ça transforme complètement le voyage. Un immense merci à tous et longue vie à cette magnifique communauté 🩷

Anne Claire est restée chez nous 4 mois, et quelle joie de l'avoir avec nous!! C'est est une personne très sociable, pleine d'énergie, curieuse de nouvelles experiences. J'ai adorée la façon dont elle a pris sa place parmi nous. La communication a été très fluide, Anne claire étant très directe cela facilite la communication. Elle aime aussi quand les choses sont organisées et clair ce qui permet aussi de la fluidité dans le quotidien et a donné un cadre très clair avec Elise et Valentin. On a créer une super équipe très fun! Anne claire adore cuisiner et on a donc découvert de nouveaux plats originaux et super bon. Elle adore se lancer dans des chantiers alors elle a repeint les volets de la maison, trop chouette. On fait l'école a la maison et Anne claire a donné une nouvelle dynamique dans les apprentissages des enfants. Ils ont commencés à faire leurs ateliers dans la joie grace a Anne clair qui a pleins d'idées en partant sur divers projets pour rendre les apprentissages hyper intéressants et vivants! Valentin a aussi appris a faire du vélo avec Anne claire qui l'a bien motivée:) ca a été une super aventure d'avoir Anne claire avec nous!

Eliseo e Sofia sono stati 2 settimane con noi, e siamo stati benissimo!! Sono una coppia molto gentile, sereni e lavorano molto bene. Anche il loro cane e molto educato e carino <333

My sister and I stayed at the sanctuary in march and it was the best decision!!! We had such an amazing time, met wonderful people and animals and laughed a lot! It’s so nice to get to know every animal and realize they are all individuals with their own character. It was so awesome that we came back in june and experienced everything in the summer and it was wonderful! 🥰🥰 Please come and support this place!

Our time with Teddy and Juliana was too short :-D besides that no complaints!! Good and motivated workers, very friendly and just pleasant to be around !!

My experience there was amazing, really life changing!! I stayed a month in March and loved it so much that I came back in June!! Alice, Noel, Chantal, Matilde and all the volunteers are incredible people 🥰 and you really have to meet the animals (especially Julio and Rosinha), they are beautiful beings 🐷 One piece of advice: stay as long as possible, one month is too short!

Constanza is a good worker, very independent super friendly and always ready for a good laugh. Thank you for your help and all the best <3

Serena was an excellent workawayer! She took very well care of our garden, house, chickens and dogs while we we're away. She 's an intelligent and independent worker and knows what to do, even in complicated situations ;) Would ask here again!

During our time here, spring was in full flow, the land was abuzz with insect life, flowering trees and swallows shooting in and out of the old barns ✨️ Firstly, we have to mention the food. One word- YUMMMMMMMY! Áine is excellent in the kitchen, and somehow always miraculously came up with absolutely delicious dishes, incorporating fresh salad from the garden and divine dressings. As a an individual with specific dietary requirements, Áine took all this on board and was very generous in providing "Rowan-friendly" extras, cooking separately when necessary and even helping us discover new dishes 😋 We stayed at Áine's in our touring caravan, but we were also welcomed into the house and felt completely at ease there. Our dog, even got along with Bobby the cat, snoozing in the sun together. The work was also always varied and interesting (starting around 10AM & finishing at 4PM), with tasks in the polytunnel, cleaning bee frames, DIY jobs, gardening, planting, watering, strimming, hedgecutting, beekeeping and our favourite, going to the woods!!! We shall fondly remember Ol' Massey the "tharracóir" (tractor in gaelic), pulling out the logs and taking the trailer home loaded full with wood to process. We also loved splitting the wood and getting to use our axes. Additionally, I took an interest in beekeeping, which Áine helped facilitate by allowing me come along and help with the fascinating local Irish black bees she keeps. I learnt SO much from her and had thousands of questions which I bombarded her with at the dinner table, haha 🐝 Áine, we cannot thank you enough for your kindness, patience, generosity and honestly, being the highlight of our time Ireland 🇮🇪 Greetings to Bobby, Maude, Leah and Greggory and doubtless we shall be back to visit! 🍀

Mève was lovely and easy to host. She arrived in her own car which really helped given the remote location of my shelter. Having her own car allowed Mève to find a good balance between contributing at the shelter and also enjoying local attractions and experiencing the region. Her eagerness to go out by herself and gain as many experiences as possible reflected her independent personality. She also preferred a private room which she kept very tidy and clean. On the other hand, Mève was also very friendly and joined in with group meals and being part of our team and worked well with all the other volunteers. I’m glad Mève stayed and her genuine efforts and contribution was greatly appreciated.

I worked with Dingo for the 2025/2026 season, and he was a great host. Very helpful and communicative before starting the season, and provided clean and good quality accommodation. He was a great boss, and I really enjoyed my first ever ski season. It was great to be involved with the setup of the restaurant, and Dingo was very open to suggestions and ideas! I’d definitely recommend.

Lensa and Gaia we're 2 very sweet, respectful, kind and polite young ladies. Helped me with various tasks and we could even dive into some architectural dimensions hence they both study architecture. They ended up renting a room after their workaway period for their Erasmus exchange period. Also this worked out very well. Good luck with your studies and welcome back 🙏 😊 😘 💖

My experience at this place was simply incredible and, for me personally, one of my fondest memories from my four-month journey through Bolivia and Peru. Whether it was the property with its lovingly tended vegetable gardens and plants, the many animals (especially the dogs), the team, and of course the children. I felt very comfortable the entire time and found the work to be very fulfilling. Plus, Huaran’s location offers an incredible number of options for weekend trips—the market in Urubamba, Pisac, and other towns are all within easy reach. My personal highlight was definitely the hike to Cancha Cancha. Highly recommended!
