    Description

Hi-I have an amazing little bed and breakfast in Puerto Viejo Costa Rica. I moved here about 3.5 yrs ago with my 2 Great Danes and a cockatoo from the US and opened the business. We are 2 blocks from the Caribbean and host guests from all over the world. The B&B has 3 suites and a house where guests stay.

I live just around the corner and the accommodations for work away are right next door too on its own separate property with a large yard. Since we are located in the town of Puerto Viejo everything is close, restaurants, shopping, beaches & this little residential area offers peace and quiet. The workaway home backs up to a bit of jungle so you often see sloths, iguanas, agouti and other small animals while you are hanging out in a hammock.

I’m looking to host a couple to help with gardening, cleaning, reception and some projects at the hotel 4-5 day’s a week. This person will work with Costa Rican employees to manage the tasks as well as provide a knowledge exchange between the parties. Hopefully gaining cultural insight and additional Spanish skills as well. The hours and tasks are flexible depending on your skill set.

If you want to meet people from all over the world, this is a great area. Over 50 nationalities call this place home. It provides an opportunity to practice Spanish, see what Pura Vida is all about, participate in the local events, experience wildlife at your door and have access to some of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. With plenty of time to yourself you can make the most of your time to see what life is really like here.

We need assistance with cleaning and guest check in/out, credit card payments, some shopping, small errands, as well as some gardening. The typical hours are 9AM (900) to 2PM (1400). We bake all the time for our guest breakfasts so if like to bake perhaps this is an option as well but it isn’t necessary.
This position doesn’t require a lot of technical skill but does require a very high attention to detail. Our guests are our most important concern. The B&B is ranked 9.5 on a travel reservations website for all of 2018 and it is due to our dedication to ensuring each guest has a comfortable stay. People come from all over the world and it is our goal to make all of them feel at home.

The accommodation is a private stand alone house with a big fenced yard 2 blocks from the beach. The bedroom has a queen sized bed and bathroom with a separate large common room for hanging out, eating and a kitchen for cooking your meals. The patio is a perfect place to hang a hammock and watch the jungle. Household & staples are provided along with fans and a mosquito for over the bed. Breakfast at the B&B on working days can be provided as well.

    What else ...

In your down time there are tons of beaches, jungle hikes, volunteer opportunities, as well as wildlife at your door. I ride my bike everywhere but there are buses to explore things a bit further from town and the cost is very inexpensive. It’s a great town to be able to kick back and relax but still be close to national parks. If you like extra adventure you can take tours for zip lines, white water rafting, night jungle hikes, snorkeling, surfing and a lot more. It is impossible to list all the ways to spend time here. There seems to be something for everyone at every level of adventure.
