  • Description

    Description

This is the most remote hotel on mainland Britain, situated in the splendid isolation of North Scotland's Highlands, the home of eagles, wild deer and salmon. In the tourist season we are looking for practical and flexible individuals or couples to help run the hotel while, out of season, we need help with renovation and improvements.

    Help

Help in our small and remote hotel. We need help with cleaning, cooking, gardening, general maintenance and looking after guests. We pay the National Living Wage/Minimum Wage (as applicable) for all hours worked; with a deduction per day for accommodation in accordance with government guidelines. You will have your own (en-suite) room.

Outside the main tourist months of May-September, Workaways will need a reasonable degree of self-reliance and practical skills as the focus changes to maintenance and renovation

    Accommodation

As a small hotel, all rooms are ensuite and have good beds; double, bunk or twin. Workawayers normally have their own room, unless they come as a couple. The kitchen has a large gas oven and a full range of equipment. We have no TV and, because the WiFi is provided by satellite, the internet is limited and will not support Netflix or other streaming services. We do, however, have a large DVD collection, a well stocked library, boardgames and a piano.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

Northern Scotland is not for the faint hearted or those intimidated by long dark winter nights, with the real possibility of being snowed in (possible from December until April). But we do have a small library, open fires and wonderful views. There is no light pollution as there are no neighbours, but you are likely to see the Northern Lights if you stay in winter. In summer you have 'white nights' with the sun hardly setting.
