    Description

Hello! We are a family of 4 living in a magical location on Corfu Island.

We have a lovely piece of land within walking distance of the beach of Arillas, with a beautiful garden and a big traditional house.

Our names are Thomas and Ageliki (35 years old), and our children are Lucas (5 years old and very energetic!) and Arianna (2 year old and super sweet!).

Thomas is French and Ageliki is Greek. English is our main language at home, and we also use French and Greek with the children.

Thomas is a martial arts instructor and teaches Shaolin Kung Fu (classes happen in our backyard and you are welcome to join!). He also likes to work with wood and enjoys spending time in his workshop crafting things (from small items to furnitures for our house), he is happy to share and exhange knowledge on woodcraft and more. Ageliki is a bodywork therapist and also teaches dance and singing. She is passionate about gardens. She is also great cook and makes amazing greek food!

We bought our house and land in May 2023 and have been gradually renovating, improving the house, and developing the garden with flowers, vegetables, and fruit trees.

We've been Workaway hosts for 2 years now and absolutely love it. We enjoy spending time with our visitors, sharing meals, conversations, daily life, and our practices in movement, martial arts, music, and nature-based living. We also love learning from our guests—their cultures, skills, perspectives, and ways of living.

At the moment, we are ideally looking for two Workawayers:

One person to help us with childcare and babysitting, as well as some basic house cleaning. It's really important that you have experience with babysitting and are comfortable to spend time alone with both children. We also really appreciate people who like to keep spaces clean and tidy, and can help us maintain the house (which can get so messy, so fast with 2 young children!)

One person to help with outdoor tasks: gardening, maintenance, assist Thomas with handywork around the house and land. Practical skills or experience in maintenance, carpentry, gardening would be highly appreciated and super helpful.

A couple, where one person enjoys childcare and house care and the other is more hands-on and handy, or where both can share the two roles, would be a great scenario for us.

If you feel you could help us with one of these two things, and would enjoy to spend some time on a greek island, we look very forward to meeting you!

PS. A driver’s license is appreciated, but not essential.
    Non-smokers only please.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are a very multicultural and multidisciplinary household!

Ageliki is Greek and care share lots of things about Greek culture. Also very passionate about gardening and Mediterranean herbs, natural medicines and cooking! She can teach you alot of greek recipes ;)
She also teaches traditional Greek singing (classes happen at our house!) which is a great way tk learn the language as well, and can share knowledge on massage and bodywork.

Thomas can share lots of wisdom from Buddhism and chinese philosophy as well as share practice of meditations, Qigong and Shaolin Kung Fu ( soft and hard practices) .

We have both traveled extensively for over 10 years (Asia, Australia, New Zealand, South America) and can share lots of stories and information on traveling.

And last but not least you will learn so much just interacting with our children! They are really the best teachers!

    Childcare & House Care Role

Most days will look like this:

4 hours of childcare / babysitting
Tasks include babysitting our little girl Arianna (2 years old), especially in the mornings when Lucas is in kindergarten and we need to work, as well as interactive, creative play with our 5-year-old boy in the afternoons.

1 hour of house cleaning or other house work
Tasks include sweeping, mopping, cleaning surfaces, tidying up, laundry, cleaning the deck, front yard and backyard, watering plants on the deck and in the garden, planting or harvesting from the garden, and similar tasks.

You are also welcome to help with cooking!
We mostly eat vegetarian/vegan meals with occasional meat or fish. Ageliki loves to cook and will usually take care of it, but it’s great if you enjoy cooking and would like to help sometimes 🙂

This schedule can vary depending on the needs of the day-for example, some days may require more childcare and less housework, or vice versa.

For the handy role, we also request 5 hours of help per day.

    Tasks may include:

    Painting
    Building or assembling small structures
Fixing and repairing things around the house
    Garden-related projects and outdoor maintenance
The exact tasks will depend on your skills, experience, and ongoing projects at the time. We are happy to adapt and plan together so the work feels fair, clear, and enjoyable.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

We have 2 options for accommodation for our workawayers.
One is a caravan placed on a nice shady spot of our garden. It has a big bed , a table and sofa, fan , mosquito nets, kitchenette, electricity.
The other is a comfortable, private room in our house. There is a bathroom right next to it that will be only used by you and another guest/volunteer. ( we have our own bathroom connected to our bedroom).

You will be offered one or the other option depending on which one is available at that moment.

We have dinner all together as a family around 7pm where we like you to join us, it is the only organised meal of the day.
We mostly prepare vegan/vegetarian food, with occasional meat.
Breakfast and lunch are flexible depending on each person's rythm and appetite. You are welcome to use the kitchen and our food supplies at all times to prepare meals for yourself and we also have loads of fruits to snack on. Whatever you need we can add to the shopping list and get it.
