Description
This private place needs helping hands with general work and gardening.
Ancient farmhouse in the South of France, based in the lovely hills that build the foreland to the Pyrénées. The house and its barn are surrounded by 2ha of land: a meadow, oak trees, orchards... Currently there is Anne living here, 48 years old, a French-German business consultant, as well as Topo, the dog, 2 cats, 3 sheep and 2 hens. Professional craftsmen come regularly for renovation or building tasks. We prefer to host people having some prior experience with either general tasks , DIY or gardening.Types of help and learning opportunities

The property is based in the authentic countryside of Gascony and Comminges region in the French "Midi" (south of Toulouse). Original French food of high quality, old farmhouses, typical markets, lovely nature. Some historical places around such as Aurignac (medieval village) and the Gorges de la Save (run, cycle, swim, hike). Languages spoken: French, German, English.
Help
GARDENING
- clear out weeds in the huge garden, renew the vegetable garden (on stand-by)
- pick fruits and transform them into jam and compote in August
- clear out brambles, trim hedges, cut wood, help repare fences
DIY HELP (all time)
- Help with smaller work inside such as painting or plastering
- Help cleaning out the barn and reorganise the place
We prefer to host helpers who have experience (with handy tasks of old houses or gardening or with farm tasks). Autonomous working skills are necessary. You might learn from a craftsman if it's diy work, otherwise (if gardening) you might be working on your own most of the time - so be sure you like this.Languages

We can agree on speaking French or English or German during your stay. There are many historic places and natural sites such as Gorges de la Save and Aurignac, for those who are interested in history and archaeology. By car, you can visit Saint Bertrand de Comminges (40min) and the higher Pyrénées (1 hour from here), with hiking tours going up to 3000m. I can help organise this for you on a week-end.Accommodation
3 possibilities: you can either sleep in our comfortable caravan, or in a room in the farmhouse if one is available, or in your own van or camping car.
The house is not completely renovated yet, but comfortable to live in. It has electricity, heating, high-speed Internet and a modern bathroom. 3 rooms of 5 are already renovated, a second bathroom is to come...
Meals are cooked with regional products, either from the garden, the local market or from an organic farm in the neighbourhood. We do a mix of vegetarian and omnivorous cooking - flexitarian I would say (can adapt to only vegetarian for you). What else ...
It's a very rural area, no shop or public transport in the village (shops and market at 15min ride). I can pick you up at the train station (25min from here) or you come with your own car, van or bike).
Activities around: you can use the bike here (it is not electric!) for cycling in the soft hills around. You can enjoy the place itself that is very relaxing and its nice surroundings (view onto the Pyrénées). You can hike, climb and swim in the "Gorges de la Save" (at 6km) and discover the Pyrenean piedmont that is rather calm and restful.
The evening meals are taken together, I am rather a good cook and like good conversations.A little more information

I was there during the heat wave and I could go to the beautiful gorges de la save to cool down.
That's was a good life, eating outside at the evening and having some nice conversations.
The job is not too much demanding and there's a lot of different things to do.
