Description
Hi, we are organic walnut farmers in South-Ouest of France. Until 2020, I have been working in an office in Paris - what a change ! :-)) My husband still works in Paris, but spends one or two days of home office at the farm in addition to the week-end.
From the start in 2020, we have been introducing agroecological methods. Since 2023 we are certified organic - hooray ! 😊We have one permanent employee and between one and four seasonal employees during certain periods of the year like harvest, pruning, planting, building or repairing fences...
Besides agriculture, we have a big garden, where we plant 30 fruit trees at the moment and we have a vegetable garden. So some help is always useful in gardening and also in the house (cooking, cleaning, repairing...).
We also renovate our house and the beautiful ancient buildings of the farm. So if you have experience in masonry or carpentry or if you can drive and have already worked with a tractor, welcome !Types of help and learning opportunities

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
You are immersed in the rural and agricultural milieu of "deep" France far from the towns.
Depending on the season, there are more or less people working on the farm and in the house and garden (often multicultural , 1-5 persons during harvest, pruning or planting, our permanent French employee and myself).
We play a lot in the evenigs, billiard, darts, cards, other games, and watch films.
The region has beautiful landscapes, lovely old villages, ancient chateaux and prehistoric caves.Host offers payment in line with the minimum wage

Help
We mostly need help in autumn for the harvest. Sometimes other work during the year.
Experience in agriculture is a plus though not necessary. Work is often hard !
During harvest, from late September on, we need four workers for three to four weeks who sort out the walnuts on conveyor belts near the noisy washing machine (ear protections provided). It can be hot and sunny or wet and frisky. You get gloves, but you probably will have tainted hands anyway.
Normally we work four days per week and as much hours per days as there are nuts to be washed and sorted. Generally, there is no work on Mondays and also after rainy days when the soil is too muddy to go into the orchard with the harvesting machine.
We need people who are dedicated in what they are doing and take initiatives when needed.
We pay 11,65€/h. You need to be a citizen of the European Union or to have a valid work permit for France.
Besides Covid year 2020, our harvest teams have always been multi-cultural : French, German, Tunisian, US American, Argentinian, Mexican...Languages

If you speak Arabic or Greek, I am happy to take lessons and practice on my modest level !Accommodation
You will be hosted in individual rooms, shared bathroom on the same floor.
If you don't fear cold water, you can use the swimming pool.
We generally cook in turn and eat together, but no obligation if you feel like spending some time by yourself.
Vegetarian food provided. If you need some meat, feel free to provide and cook. What else ...
The village is tiny without any stores. The next bakery, grocery store or bank is 15 minutes by car in Belvès, one of the most beautiful villages of France. We do shopping and sometimes visit the region on the week-ends and the days when we cannot work for some reason. You can help yourself in our library. There is wifi, but Internet is not unlimited, so no streaming.

I was allowed to do nice woodworks for the Chateau, an air bnb and some agriculture buildings in a nice charming workshop. I really enjoyed the different orders and the brainstorming together!

We had some very interesting discussions and he helped us mowing the lawn under a fence.
The day before he left, we asked him if he would give us a boxing lesson and he was up for it.
