Workaway is a great opportunity to travel, explore and experience life around the world while reducing the high cost of accommodations through helping at a local home, farm or hotel to offset those expenses.
Our family has been enjoying Workaway helpers for over four years now! We love the connection with others from all over the world! We enjoy sharing our time and home with others and for those committed to a community and team based spirit! We are an extremely active and busy family wth many applicants wanting to help and stay with us. We turn away more helpers than we accept. Unfortunately, we don't have time for those who are not serious about a committed stay for at least 6-8 weeks and have a desire to serve a community of positive, health-minded high energy people and animals needing attention and care. We are an early to bed, early to rise community so please apply elsewhere if you are a night owl and have trouble getting up at 6am daily. Our home is in a rural and farming community an hour north of the city of San Diego, so this opportunity is ideal for those not seeking an active night life but prefer a more peaceful and low key setting nestled in the mountainous countryside. Public transportation is limited in our town with a 4 mile walk or bike ride from our home to the bus that goes into the nearest town 20 minutes away. We do have bikes for you to use and they can be taken on the busses and sprinter train that goes over tho the Ocean and Beaches.
We are a Christian Family with a middle school aged outgoing little girl who loves Swimming, Singing, Reading, Canoeing, Paddleboarding, Yoga, Karate, Horseback Riding and Adventure! We choose to be meat and dairy free eating a whole food plant based diet free of processed or junk food and sodas. Sometimes we have several helpers and sometimes it's just one person, so you need to be someone comfortable being alone at work and during your times off. Many helpers find several young adult activities at our churches such as camping, concerts, sports, comradery, etc. We love connecting you with any three of the churches we support in North County
Southern California is full of many adventures including theme parks, beaches, mountains, desert. hiking and a beautiful climate year round! We have amazing wildlife like roadrunners, eagles, hawks, Wild Turkeys, Quail, Coyotes, mountain lions among a few. There are many charming and exciting things to do right here in our little country town not to mention the impact of festivals and events in San Diego almost every weekend. For those who love running, there are many half or full marathons or 5k fund raising runs every weekend somewhere in the county. Our hiking and camping options are unlimited and we can loan you a tent if you don't have one too for adventure on days off.
The projects we have on our property can be demanding physically and rewarding through accomplishment and team work. We require NON Smokers and those who are physically fit, have good strength and endurance who live a very healthy active lifestyle in order to be able to handle the physical demands as well as tolerate hot and cold temperatures. We prefer that those who are unsure of their physical fitness and strength discuss this with us upfront. Our goal is safety first and if you are not good at heavy lifting, digging or living a healthy active lifestyle currently, we are concerned our home projects are not the best choice for you.
Our helpers and our family are seriously committed to personal development, leadership, goal setting our church and serving others. We seek only like minded individuals who strive to be in alignment with a purpose driven, results oriented life.
You can stay a short or long time, but if coming short term, must be minimum 6-8 weeks but can stay longer too. There are many part time jobs available in the area for you to earn extra income and we would be happy to give you some suggestions. We can and do pay a small stipend for spending money for additional help and bonuses for exceptional support!
