    Description

We only consider female applicants, sorry. We'd ideally like someone who can stay from June 29 - July 13 (starting before or staying later is fine, but we'd like someone to at least cover those dates).

Family Home in Birkenhead, Auckland. Only a 15-minute bus ride into the city (and only a 5 minute walk to the bus stop), we are very conveniently located to get to know Auckland. There are beaches in all a directions and lots of shops only a 5 minute walk away.
We are 3 generations living under 1 roof. We live downstairs with our 4 year old daughter. My partner's father lives upstairs with his live-in caretaker. I am originally from the United States and was an English teacher before I became a Mum, now I am a stay-at-home Mum and a part-time yoga teacher. My partner, Luke, is an ecologist. His father, Ross, is 83 and still very energetic and active. We currently have a friendly Japanese woman staying with us too. We have a shy cat who lives downstairs.
We are interested in being a host with workaway because my partner is going away and it's helpful having a helper. It's also great learning about new people and cultures!
We all love travelling. We would love to welcome you to our home. You would have your own quiet private room upstairs. You would share the bathroom with only 1 person.
It's a large, comfortable house offering a good balance of privacy and social interaction. Please be aware that we do expect a high level of tidiness in shared spaces (kitchen, bathroom, etc). Please treat our house like a home rather than a hostel :)

We have all travelled extensively. I grew up in the US and lived in Europe and Australia before settling in New Zealand. I was an English teacher previously, so would love to help you with your English if you need it.
My partner, Luke, is a Kiwi and his family have lived in this area for many generations. His father especially likes talking and telling stories :)

    Help

We would like you to help with childcare and cooking, possibly some cleaning tasks too. Hours would be roughly 3:00-7:00 for 5 days per week. My daughter is very energetic and loves playing with new people. Childcare experience greatly valued. Work would be for 5 days then 2 days off.
We are vegetarian so shared meals would be vegetarian, too. This isn't a good place for someone who consumes a lot of meat but if you'd like to cook yourself meat in your own time (for lunch or breakfast for example), that's no problem!

On your time off, you can explore Auckland and all it has to offer. Happy to recommend locations and experiences. There are so many beaches around and even some good local bush walks.
