    Description

We welcome hard-working, pleasant people to help our charitable arts centre with gardens (both decorative and produce), along with some events, programs, etc. It's an amazing community and you can be part of making it even better!

We have a magnificent arts centre based on 75 hectares of fields and forest overlooking the Bay of Fundy, only 20 minutes from Wolfville and 80 minutes from Halifax. In winter, we need help with light construction projects, and assisting with some of our community programs. Spring, summer and fall, we need help with the art projects, with the large gardens, and with the kitchen.

It is an amazing place, and when open programs are available, we invite our volunteers to take part in great arts programs!

Also looking for people to help with cooking, ushering for the theatre, etc. In the summer, we require a police check to live on site because of the number of children in camp (available from your home or university police station easily).

Looking for interesting, helpful people who want a new experience and want to make something beautiful!

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

If we have arts programming, you are welcome to take part, and if the theatre is performing you can come as often as you are not scheduled somewhere. It is a great place to meet people who love meeting other people and making the world a more creative place.

  • Help

    Help

Volunteer help depends on the time of year - in the fall, volunteers might help with maintenance and decoration, and carrying out halloween events, along with special arts outreach programming in the community. In the summer, it is theatre and garden based, and in the winter and spring, it is school programming, our annual fundraiser, maintenance and planning. We try to use the skills you have and to enhance them, but also get you to try new things depending on what needs doing.

We ask volunteers to give 5 hours a day for 5 days a week, and in exchange, you get meals and a cool place to live in a beautiful setting, plus to explore this beautiful region on Canada's east coast.

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Dependant on season - fall winter and spring, it is generally in the onsite farmhouse, otherwise it is one of our cabins.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

It is a beautiful part of the world, with rolling farmlands, the highest tides in the world, great hiking (snow showing) and a university town a few minutes away.

The management of the centre lives a few minutes away and we love getting to know our volunteers - who often keep in touch and become friends. We try to ensure you can get into town regularly if you don't have a car and that you get to see the best of Nova Scotia while you're here!

It is vital that our volunteers are respectful; easy-going, but also hard working - and a sense of humour is always a help! We rely on volunteers to make an amazing experience - including for you! An interest in the arts is useful, and cooking and gardening skills are not vital, but certainly appreciated!

We are very rural - close to town, but it is not walkable - we're on 178 acres, which means you can see the stars and the moon, walk in the woods and hike down to the beach. It also means there are no McDonald's within 20 minutes drive :-).
